Soldier beat up a civilian for wearing Military Uniform.

August 8, 2021.

According to a video that was shared on the internet yesterday, in an Unidentified Location, the deceased name Unknown.
It was seen that a Nigerian soldier, who was on uniform, severely dealt with a civilian man who also wore military uniform, after he was questioned and it was discovered that he was not a soldier.

According to what was seen in the clip that went viral, the soldier assaulted the civilian with his belt and at a particular time, he wanted to carry an iron rod and break it on his head but he stopped when people shouted. Aside this, the soldier carried a broken bench and hit it on the civilian severally before the clip ended.

Taking a look at the video clip, truly, the man impersonated The Nigerian Army by wearing their uniform when he is not a member but nevertheless, he was not supposed to be treated in such manner. The soldier who was caught beating him took the law into his hands and if along the line, the suspect died in the process, will the soldier still be able to justify the beating ? The answer is "NO."

When the suspect was caught, what was expected as a law abiding citizen is that, the soldier ought to hand over the civilian man to police operatives, who will investigate and charge him to court for proper prosecution but instead, he decided to take law into his hands.

The federal government should address the menace of soldiers beating civilians at any slight provocation because, it is not done this way in developed countries. The same people they swore to protect are the same people they are maltreating, which goes against their professional conduct.

I hope they can beat bandits like that. Attacking a civilian is a sign of weakness and cowardice.
