AYE/Iye/Ayi is still igbo for woman but an old term. Hence Nwa-ayi = woman, Nwa-iye = Wife, Ndi-Iye = Elder women.

Omu/Umu same word. Omu is even on the arochukwu flag

Iye (Yoruba)= Iye (Bini) = Mother= Aye/Iye (Igbo)= Woman

Orisha/Oosha (Yoruba)= Oritse(Itsekiri)= Osaa (Bini) = olise (Ika)= Olisa (Igbo).

Osadebe (Edo)= Osadebe (Igbo)= Olisadebe.

Orishajenfo (Yoruba) = Oritsejafor (Itsekiri)= 'The gods allowed me to talk' or more contextually, the 'gods have given me voice'

Omo (Yoruba) = Omo (Bini) = Oma (Itsekiri) = Rumu (Ikwerre)= Umu (Igbo).

Akin (Yoruba) = Aken( Bini)= Iken (Itsekiri) = Ike (Igbo) = Warrior/ Power depending on the context.

Akinbuwa/Akenzua/ Ikengbuwa ?

Same way we have the name Okoronkwo/Okonwo a man born on Nkwo market day, Okorie/Okoye a man born on Orie/Oye market day and Okeke from Eke market day.

Efewestern hope you have been schooled for free here so throw that your Bini imprint mentality to dustbin and next time you see these names never you think, add or suffix anything Bini to it.

You just like the Bkay guy aren't open to proper cultural discussion. I ended his conversation because I knew where it was driving to. I don't want to be caught in the web of your ethno-centric iisshh.

Correct. Interestingly groups like Igala (which is technically Yoruba), Nupe, Idoma and probably others belong to the same group. That is like well over 60% of the country.

Because African names are actually combinations of words, our names only appear different when the similar root words we share are combined with non- similar words.

For instance,

Okunrin (Yoruba) = Okoro (Bini)= Okoro (Igbo).

Akin (Yoruba)= Aken (Bini) = Iken (Itsekiri)= Ike (Igbo).

Akingbola = Akin + gbola = '
'Warrior/Power has taken wealth'

Ikechukwu= Ike+ Chukwu = 'Power of God'

Okafor= Okoro + Afor= 'Man born on Afor market day'

This thread has been very educating regardless of complexes littered all over it.
When MNK said that "everybody from Igodomigodo to Calabar are either Igbo or related to Igbo", this is the point he was really trying to make.
Nevertheless, truth is that most Igbo today don't give a flying fck either way.
All we want is peace within ourselves and with our neighbors.

Okunrin (Yoruba)= Okoro (Bini)= Okoro (Igbo)= MAN.

Okorodudu (Urhobo)= Okunrin dudu (Yoruba)= Okoroji (Igbo)

Okuta( Yoruba) = Okute (Itsekiri)= Okwute= Igbo

Yoruba-Bini-Itsekiri-Urobo/Isoko-Ika-Ikwerre- Ekpeye-Igbo represent a language continum.

In the distant past, we spoke the same language.

I had this discussion the other day with someone that OMO (Child) isn't entirely a yoruboid word because several distant/distinct ethnic groups make use of it albeit in a modified way.

Oma

Most of these guys are sympathizers/members of IPOB which promote ethnocentrism devoid of sound educational critiques and intellectual contributions.

History discussed are all subtle attempt to connect everyone in sight to Igbo, there isn't any sincerity in these discussions.

We cannot all be Igbos!
Raise your IQ a lil bit and add academically and logically to the discussion. Just in case you don't know, Yoruba, Igbo, Edo, Igala ALL belonged to one proto-language.

In southern Nigeria, the only isolated or different language are the Ijoid languages.

I mean I hope this is not the first time you are learning this? If so, then I apologize. Now sit and learn.

What you posted are from Britannica (the blue headliner gave you out, you didn't crop it out)
Anyways the article is a third person compilation (a revision) done not too far.
Even from the revision, some things still stood out, the Ubani eyewitness account from the German doctor who confirmed that they are Igbo and even refused teaching him the Igbo language.
As for Okirika and Nembe who are Brass people?
Are you kidding me?
Who do you think you are talking to?
Do I look like Nigerian Educated Illiterates to you?
When talking about real history, don't give me that crap of calling Brass that was recognised as an Independent Country and Brass people as Ijaw. Don't do that

Now I see your problem.Go back and read that journal publication again. Ibani elders refused to teach the language, they preferred to communicate with the language of the slaves. At the time, the felt strangers not understanding Ibani was to their disadvantage.

Well...we now know the consequences of that action.Igbo became the predominant language, that's why ignoramuses like you would say Ibani is an Igbo language.

I'm giving you this assignment.Submit on Monday, not more than 20 pages.IBANI LANGUAGE: IGBO THREAT AND NEAR EXTINCTION.

We believe we conclusively proved to the general public that it was completely mistaken in the allegations, we are therefore disappointed to read from this forum the submissions by the Ndigbo claim over Osekwenike and Abuetor.
No individual or group can coerced the Isoko land into igbo self claim territory or any other territories,
The isoko nation will resist any attempted to annex any isoko community, the attempt to steal the Isoko ancestral land by any ethnic group. Must stop immediately or such action will be considered as act of war.

When will you guys stop linking Igbo tribe to all these minority ethnic clan in SouthSouth. It's getting monotonous already.

It is interesting, I found in this book compiled from 1800s and published in 1906 was one of the most thorough works done on the the people of the Lower Niger.

The Okrikans elders were interviewed in the 1800s and they claim that their ancestors came from Afam in Igbo land.
