Recently graduated from uni(this year), seriously it was just God's grace.
Most times my friends asks me why I don't like going out, to them I was a sadist but deep down I was always running short on funds, most times I eat only once but don't complain. I just managed myself till I'm done. Now I'm done, I pray for better days ahead.

To all students facing financial challenges I have been there and it's not easy, I pray you get helpers. Hang in there, there's light at the end of the tunnel.
Amen.. Thank u

It wasn't easy at the beginning Sha...
One time I was extremely broke, I had to mix red oil and crayfish and ate it.

But later my life changed Sha...
Things got better...
I could afford to spend 4k on food daily...

I feel students should try to get equipped with skills that'll fetch them money while at school.

Skills like?

I went through hell back in school. I suffered that my friends and some of my course mates had to shuffle food for me at times

I couldn't even afford getting accommodation off campus nor school hostel. I squatted with a family friend who barely feed on it's own. I'm indepted to this family though for providing me accommodation. They gave me roof over my head. I was top of the class despite my condition. I also make sure my close friends all graduated with 2.1.

It was during my studentship i knew i can't joined the bandwagon and indulged in cyber crime. I had course mates who are living large and bailing as Yahoo guys. They literally told me to come live with them and forget I've once starved before.

They owned their ride and live comfortably. They literally live a gigantic lifestyles. Nonetheless, I never give in. Despite the pressure, I never for once imagined myself in their shoes. They'd invite me to their house during exam period to help them with tutorials, but i don't usually honour their invitation. We only meet in school, do whatever we had to do and get dispersed afterwards.

I constantly love taking water to avoid having ulcer. I got discouraged, stressed out and overwhelmed in my final year. I had to work my ass off on menial jobs to pay tuition fees and project work. My Calabar neighbour back then also helped me with food, i was taking his son who's preparing to sit for UTME tutorials. I had the opportunity of using a smart phone ( android) in my final year, this was when my friend gave me hers having gotten a new one

I got relieved and happy when i left school, even though i knew deep down i was on my own. I need no soothsayers to tell me i had much more tougher days ahead. I was just glad living that building called school. Seriously school was hell on me. I did participated in some extracurricular activities, that doesn't make it interesting to me.

I'm out of school now, but no job. At times, I'd be wondering if i didn't made the wrong choice going to school at first. The noble pandemic (Covid) also came in when i graduated and disrupted everything. Seriously i just need a job to help myself and family. I wonder when someone would start living a normal life. This life is truly not fair to all.
Omo you are a strong guy o. You deserve to enjoy life abeg

I had my own share of brokenness back on school. There was a day I came back from school very late in the night, it was during era of CBT exams in Unilorin.

I had not eaten anything that very and it was already 11pm. I checked the kitchen I could not find anything to eat. The family member I was squatting with were all asleep. Then check the Garri plastic container, it empty only some dusty particle of garryi not up to a spoon. I just pour plenty water and drank it . That was how I survived that. It was really tough.

Sometimes, I wonder why do we go through so much suffering as students in Naija and only to come out and still struggle to get a job ..it does not worth it at all.

If you school for Kasu within 05-13
You'll know the distance between Kasu and Kano road, we literally trekked at least 2-3 times a week to Kano road from Kasu.
And we'll be bragging it's not far grin grin
I followed that same road recently ehn, omo we tried.
I can relate to this too. I trekked on this route like bad during my final year.

It was in my first year. My parents were passing through difficult times, and had told me to defer it till next year but I refused.

I used all my saving and resumed.
Men! I was so broke like crazy. Hunger weh go make person de cry.
I started cooking for my roommates to get a plate of food in return.

One of my Classmates, Samuel would give me all his materials and allow me make notes before exams. I couldn't afford to buy lecture materials. May God continue to bless you Samuel.

From my 2nd year, everything became normal.

Since then, whenever I see people training themselves in school, I help them as much as possible. Because I knew how hard it was for me then.

During my first year I had so much financial difficulties, a lot that I stopped thinking about them. My parents were trying but it was difficult. I dropped 4kg despite being originally underwieght.

But now I found alternatives and I’m doing well. Now, going broke is my greatest fear because there’d never be anyone to the rescue.

Not my story but I’ll share this:
Do you know Eba that’s made with gaari?
I have coursemate that eats eba 3/3 for 7/7. I swear to God. He’s on a different level of financial difficulty.
I stayed with him briefly weeks ago. When I told him we could cook rice, he was surprised when I showed him my foodstuff pack. You see, just Thank God

Don't be surprise.. I'm into such mess now.
I eat garri and watery soup everyday.
I only taste different food when someone gives to me.

Mine was, I was so broke to an extent that I could not afford #50 for my transport to school (I stayed off campus), and the distance from off campus to the main campus of my school (Unilorin) is like Niger to Oyo. I had to relocate to school for two days reading, it was exam period. How I fed for those two days is still a mystery to me.

Share yours.

When I was in 100 level maybe. Afterwards I borrowed myself sense. I even travel executive later on. Brokenness is not for a shaild of God.

I was so broke that I never had any fun in school. I play football to pass time too when ever I got hit by hunger. But thank God I'm done with my final exam, waiting for my final result and clearance and will soon be a graduate of a federal university of technology.
I need help with a firm that train people to become web developers and also pay them stipend for upkeep during the period of training.

2015 - 2019 I can remember buying one paint of garri to drink once a day for a whole week. If the week is good I will buy crayfish and pepper to pound and swallow my Garri with.

It's a bless week if I can get Egusi and achi to prepare soup that will last for a week. If there is that dry goat skin it's a great week.

This is 2021 I am not where I use to be, at the same time I am no where close to my destination.

I have B.sc in Accounting(Second class upper division).

I will appreciate if the can help me with a Job or recommend me for a Job.

I was terribly broke looking back I don't know how I managed it, I ask myself how come people still related with me despite not dressed in the trending dresses, not having a phone, not eating in restaurants as others did, not able to buy whatever I wanted etc. How the hell did I manage all that? During breaks I do home lessons to gather money and come back to school I buy my provisions but my parents pay my school fee. We had to go for an excursion, I can't say how I pull off eating then. God has been faithful

I will never forget how I resigned as a teacher in HOFACO,Abak LG of Akwa Ibom to get to Sokoto and pursue a Masters.

I already had a BSc, but I wanted to get an MSc.

I reached Sokoto, where I did not know anyone.

I got admission for MSc in 2012, but the lectures started early 2013 and lasted till mid 2014, because of ASUU strikes and other delay in the system.

During those days, I suffered so much and sometimes had to drink garri once in a day.

Without a job, I really suffered and became so thin.

I called my mum to send me some money, but she reminded me that as a graduate,I had what it takes to work, even if it means teaching in a private secondary school.

But the truth in the matter is that most schools did not want a teacher who would not be stable in school, because of running a Masters program.

Sometimes,I trekked a long distance because I did not have even N50 to take bike.

But I thank God that the effort paid off, because when I resigned from HOFACO, one teacher was mocking me, but now that I have a lecturing job with my MSc,he is still teaching in HOFACO with a BSc.

He said if he had known,he would have resigned with me to pursue a Masters.

Lol. I was dead broke.
I remember waking up deep in the night to eat leftover foods from my hostel mates. Anything I see on their plates, I’ll just pack it and eat. Sometimes, will open the pots and pick the ones left by the side of the pots.
My roommates and I were not close. They were levels ahead of me. Different departments. Some were squatters. Most were Muslim. It was a northern federal university.

I could survive on 2,000 for the entire month. There was this burger sold in front on the hostel ar night. It was basically bread and stuffed with veggies. I’d gather all my strength and wait till night. I’ll buy one for like 80 then get water. Most times I went hungry. This was 2005. Suleiman Hostel, room A3 35.

I am really thankful for life. Life has been really fair to me since I got out of school. I have no single complaints

Lol.
I think say na recently dem start bread burger for ABU oh

I was a student at the University of Benin. I just finished my second semester first year exams. I wanted to travel back to Lagos. I had run out of money to even feed.

There was a guava tree in the compound of the hostel I was living in. That became my food. Both ripped and unripe. " come and eat "was another source of feeding while waiting for transportation back to Lagos. This, was my first time out of Lagos and I was lost. Stranded and hungry. At last my elder sister and Sunday's to the rescue.
