#780 can get a plate of meal in Lagos and more in other part of the country, while 1pound can get you a plate of meal in any part of UK
Sorry do you mean "cannot"?
Can u get chicken and chips at 1 pounds? Can you get anything in Mc Donald at 1 pounds? Common biscuits is at 50 pence(half of 1 pounds). Can you board a bus in UK with 1 pounds? At least 780 naira will take you somewhere in Lagos.
Ceteris paribus. I rest my case.

grin grin I swear.

I had a lot of shillings and pence as change i received in the course of transactions during a trip and I went to change those in the post office and I came out with almost 7 pounds. Since then I stopped joking with the coins. I have a container full of shillings and pence and I am hoping to travel back with them when next I do.

Stop believing rubbish, you have just been fooled by your imaginary friend.
Even the pounds we are talking about, what can you use one pound to buy in UK?
We all know what we can buy with #780.
Devaluation of naira should be a blessing to us, but we are too lazy to work on the advantages.
Devaluation of naira is more profitable to diasporians.

You're so myopic. Can you believe yourself. You mean a shilling or pound shilling which is equivalent to 780 naira is useless. Do we have 1naira note or coin in Nigeria SMH. You're obviously a child. No insult intended but your assertion is myopic. Most of our currencies are useless as we speak. 5naira, 10naira, 20naira.

If Nigeria want to make their money stronger, they need to stop importing and start manufacturing to export

But the last time Buhari closed border to boost local production, some bigots said he is targeting a tribe.

Has the border been open ever since? Don't you know that it was the inflation that was caused by the border closure that finally destroyed the Nigerian economy?

It starts with the right policies and low bank interest rate as well as conducive environment for business to strive. Have you tried to export anything via Apapa tin can before? Let them think through the whole process first and drive the actualization committedly. Then we can compare ourselves with other nations.

I highly doubt you've been to the UK. 1 pound can buy you a whole lot of things. There's something called 'pound store' in the UK. As a matter of fact, most of the gifts UK returnees share to their relatives in Nigeria are from pound store.

You can even buy a pair of shoes for 1 pound.

He is absolutely right. You can go to food banks if you have no food. You can get paid weekly if you have no money plus free food.

All of Una wey dey compare money equivalence and purchasing power should realise that there is never a basis for comparison between one economy and another. Though it may seem like simple mathematical proportions, there are numerous factors that come into play before you can compare the values of different currencies.
If you earn NGN300k/month in Naija
It translates to NGN10k/day
and NGN1,112/hour 8am-5pm Naija work hours.
how many loaves of bread can your hourly pay buy in Naija?
While someone earning just 10€ can buy 20 leaves of bread with their hourly pay.

On the flip side, someone paying 1.2m/ANNUM as rent for 1bedroom flat in Naija will be complaining of expensive rent. That translates to 100k/month.
Same apartment here in Europe goes for 800k/MONTH!

So, it is not that easy to compare all these metrics.

Many people just make a mess of their economics knowledge when they only make assertions about the naira based on exchange rate and they forget the purchasing power of currencies in their respective domain. 1 pound can not buy in the UK what its equivalent can buy in Nigeria. Although the naira seems weak in international trade but locally it is very much strong. 750 naira can still buy a complete meal anywhere in Nigeria, 1 pound can not do such in the UK
you should discuss the hours it will take you to get that 750 naira in Nigeria.
