True Tales From Past Valentine's Day by CalabarMan(m): 6:43am On Feb 14, 2006
Okay reality check guys, let me dig into my archive of experiences and offload this gist of how I goofed on valentine's day years back. Enjoy.

There was this new babe I was trying to date, a colleague who just joined. Incidentally we happened to be in Lagos together on the week of Valentine, so I asked her to be my Val, well you know how naija babes are she didn't say yes or no, so I felt she was just playing hard to get. I went on with all the planning and at the appointed time I called her up in the hotel, the phone ring tire no response , several attempts later I gave up as it dawned on me that the babe has bursted my side. What a lonely Val's day it was for me, all my pals were busy. I kept blaming and cursing myself.

Anyway make loneliness no kill me I decided to leave the confines of the hotel and take a stroll down to bar beach and Kuramo beach and guess what?, I saw the babe chilling out in one of those pepper soup joint with another colleague of mine. Instead of being upset, I was really amused. The babe don play fast one on me.

I never mentioned anything to her, I stopped chasing her but we were still friends and occassionally I would take her out for lunch and help out whenever she needed my help.

Months later the guy jilted her and she started chasing, me I didn't play hard to get O! (how can) but I made it clear that it was because the bobo had bursted her side that was why she was falling back on me. She didn't say anything. Shortly after we started dating full time and I then revealed to her what happened on Val's day 6 months ago. She was shocked and appologised, I told her no need for that, so far as she followed her heart. Anyway the relationship did not last very long before I called it quits. She wanted to know why so I told her I was her second best option and I didn't want to build a long term relationship on this premise

Does anyone else want to share their past Valentine day experience?

hey calabarman if you think your val was really messed up, what will you say about this:
some 5 years ago, i wanted to give my man a val day surprise treat so i told him i had an urgent message from home that i would'nt be around for val. i said this because i wanted to sneak back to his house when he had gone to work and set the stage for some TLC, if you know what i mean! He was going to get back at night because he works in a bank, so i prepared a candle light dinner for two, threw rose petals all around with a track of celine deon playing sofly at the background, even changed the bed sheets to one i bought specially 4 that occasion and i was wearing nothing but this sexy lingeree i bought. infact the stage was set, i didn't think i had left anything out.

Then i heard his car drive in at about 8 pm, i ran to the door and waited until i heard him pull out his house keys, i opened the door and shouted, "Surprise" and there stood my man, mouth agape ,looking as if he just saw a ghost with ANOTHER BABE clinging on his sleeves.

Well, don't ask me what happened next ,you're free to fill in the missing pieces. Since then i've been weary of surprise packages. i look back today and laugh but believe me it wasn't funny then.

Both you guys should have seen the sign, or you just ignore it, you cant turn a dog to a house wife or husband. if your man is cheating you should have known before val day if you paid attention to details.

Bagoma, it's not funny. I think it's cruel. I hate it when people who claim to be "in love" play cheap tricks on each other. If my "girlfriend" starts a fight with me in order to avoid giving me a gift, she will surprised to find me unwilling to accept her back after the fight. I don't see relationships as a game. If "love" is just a game, then it's not worth the stress.
Re: True Tales From Past Valentine's Day by bagoma(f): 8:48pm On Feb 14, 2006
seun, you got a point, yes. people shouldnt play such tricks. but i wonder why people still fall for such, i dont think i would.
but seun, consider this also, you never can tell what might happen. you just might find yourself forgiving your "girlfriend" if she comes back. its possible you fall in love so bad that you love her even beyond yourself, thats why this life is interesting. you can never really tell.

I won't forget when i was in high school. i don't know how i didn't hear the announcement that everybody was to wear red. it was really surprising. i got on the school bus and everyone was in red, when i got to school, it was even worst as i was the only one wearing a different color so i really stood out in a horrible way. nah, it wasn't a pleasant day. i made sure i made it up on st. patricks day by wearing all the green in da world. cry
Re: True Tales From Past Valentine's Day by CalabarMan(m): 7:20am On Feb 15, 2006
Val's day is not a day for making yourself bankrupt. I don't understand why people need to spend so much to impress their babe. All the gift you need on that day is a Card and a box of chocolate or Biscuits simple no need for all those expensive gifts. It isn't even advisable to go out as the whole town would be crowded and jam packed, so stay home with your babe and catch up with some TLC.
