It is no longer news that the world is moving fast into the digital space and technology is what is driving this massive shift. As a young person that desires to start a career in software development there are basic things you will need to learn and keep learning as you grow.

First there are personal skills you must be ready to build, else you will struggle on this journey. Remember career in tech isn't for the faint hearted.

1. Discipline is one of the qualities you must build, it helps you to stick to your plan and focus on getting things done.

2. Ability to manage your time well...often times people complain they don't have time...who on earth has enough time? If you don't structure your time well you cant go far and you wont be able to grow.... your lack of time management will knock you out of focus.

3.Creativity- Yes ,you have to think critically and come up with great ideas that will help you explore more learning.

4. Be open to learning, don't assume you already have a clue......nobody is above asking questions. You must understand that you can learn from those older and even younger than you. The Tech space doesn't respect age.... it respects intellect and knowledge.

5. Set a target , start small.....don't set a year target when you cant even accomplish a weeks target. Set realistic and measurables target in your career.

In Software development there are different paths to follow. You can choose to grow in one or more career paths. Its all depends on your ability and interest.
1.Frontend developer- programming which focuses on the visual elements of a website or app that a user will interact with (the client side). It is the first part you see when you open a website or an app. The features and all the interactions you see.

2.Backend developer- Back end development focuses on the side of a website users can't see (the server side). It is what makes the website or app to function well. What allows you to login, create account and have more access to the features you see.

Example- When you walk into a restaurant you are welcomed into the beautiful setup, you admire the whole outlook and you get seated(frontend), then the kitchen is where the cooking is done and the preparation is made(backend) which is later brought to you( frontend).
In an ideal situation, one can not really function without the other.... wink wink wink wink wink wink wink

Then there is this one we often call FULL-STACK Developer- Simply when you have knowledge of both frontend, backend and more .

Interesting, well done Deborah.

You should proceed with this, and speak of how to become either of the 3 career paths you have mentioned.
This will assist beginners and tech. enthusiasts in enlightening them more about Software Development, it's intricacies and what the learning journey looks like in becoming a World Class.

Once again, well done.
