Christmas has absolutely nothing to do with God or the things of God as it is against God to do anything which He has not commanded in His Name. undecided

So, it is a sin to celebrate Christmas as if in the name of God. However, it is not a sin to celebrate the holiday as if a pagan holiday - no direct reference to God or His name. undecided

Excellent!
This means nobody will question the holiday once it's not linked to the God of Israel who has principles as found written in His word Bible! smiley

I am afraid you need to understand God in order to understand why it ought to be so. undecided

God hates it when men pretend they can do that which He never command in His name. Doing so is akin to adding rules to God's Law and agreement - no man has authority to do so on behalf of God. undecided

God never commanded our celebration of Christmas in His name and so it is a sin to celebrate Christmas in God's name. undecided

So does this mean that we should never celebrate anything that God has not decreed? No. It means we can celebrate anything we want to so long as we don't go around dragging God's name into it as if to suggest it is decreed by Him. Christmas was not decreed by God and so it is a pagan holiday, much like every other holiday out there - God did not decree any holidays for us in His Law, Jesus Christ. So we are free to celebrate any holiday without appending the name of God to it undecided

No, God already did that for us 2000 years ago. undecided

You see, God is God of Laws, and Jesus Christ happens to be God's Law and agreement between God and individuals, the Covenant God makes with everyone who chooses to believe and accept to enter into the Kingdom of God. undecided

Under the New Covenant Law that is Jesus Christ, Jesus Christ gave to His followers about 100 laws to live by. The terms and conditions of this New Covenant agreement are as documented in the 4 Gospels - Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. One of such laws/commandments decrees it sin to add, change or even remove commandment /law from God's Law as given us in the teachings and command of Jesus Christ - Matthew 15 vs 1 - 14 & Mark 7 vs 1 - 13 undecided

So, as I said, God never commanded our celebration of Christmas in His name and so it is a sin to celebrate Christmas in God's name - you cannot add to God's Law. undecided

Now, it is also sin to decree it a sin to, in the name of God, decree it sin to celebrate Christmas. Again, this because God also never said that. The key is keep the name of God out of things that are not of God. undecided

Do you know that almost every day of the week is dedicated to an idol, even you cars, phones, perfumes, clothes, shoes etc carry pagan symbols, you can as well leave this earth because even the cities towns, villages you live in were once dedicated to idols.

what some of you don't understand is that once we dedicate anything to the name of the Lord that thing becomes pure, when we celebrate Christmas in Jesus name then Christmas becomes pure provided we keep it holy.
Anything we don't dedicate to the Lord is unholy.

There you have your answers.

Steep:
1. Do you know that almost every day of the week is dedicated to an idol, even you cars, phones, perfumes, clothes, shoes etc carry pagan symbols, you can as well leave this earth because even the cities towns, villages you live in were once dedicated to idols.

2. what some of you don't understand is that once we dedicate anything to the name of the Lord that thing becomes pure, when we celebrate Christmas in Jesus name then Christmas becomes pure provided we keep it holy.
Anything we don't dedicate to the Lord is unholy.

There you have your answers.
1. An idol that you set between your person and God, in our case, Jesus Christ. So you use of things such as your car, perfume, food, clothing, water, shoes etc., aren't idol worship but simply your using of things. These things of become idols when you serve them, dedicate yourself to them, in place of God - ignoring God's commandments in order that you may focus your moments on the benefits you obtain from such things. undecided

Other examples of idols are your Pastors and Mogs, along with their doctrines and traditions which you chose to pay more attention to in place pf God's own Truth are idols in the lives of their followers. undecided

2. God gave no man authority, this through Jesus Christ, to dedicate anything to the Name of God. The Pharisees were guilty of teaching false doctrines of dedications long before Jesus Christ showed up but Jesus Christ, using them as examples warned His followers against believing such foolishness. So anyone who deludes you into believing you can do so is an idol you need to deal with. undecided

No man has authority to add to God's Law or remove from God's Law - it is sin against God to attempt such stupidity in the name of dedicating to God that which God has not in fact commanded. undecided

Didn't notice a lot was going on here. A should is not a must. People should be allowed to make their choices. Don't be God's judge representative.

If you really mean the underlined then why do you ask the below question?

But is Celebrating Christmas a sin?

Once you've made your decision try to allow others who care to know the truth from God's word, faith in God is not about doing whatever anyone likes but what is in accord with God's word! John 8:32 smiley

God already gave you the answer to your question over 2000 years ago. That you still don't know the answer means you don't know God at all. You need to take time to learn of the God who you claim to believe in and of His Will/Covenant, Jesus Christ, which He gave you 2000 years ago. undecided

The discussion has been for a while and we have learnt a lot. Should you force someone to believe your position on a matter? I don't think so. It's all about choices and even God allows people to make choices, the outcome is the case.
You have made your point, that find. Let it be.
