This is what you get when a society has lost everything it has and cherishes. My issues with the MBGN this year (not that I keep tab of it yearly anyway). The finalist are even worse. You can tell that one of the organisers has a taste for igbo girls. Out of 36 states in Nigeria, there were over 30 Igbo girls representing each state. Even my state Osun is represented by Kelechi! So this whole thing is a farce. They cant go anywhere. You need to see Ms Jigawa on youtube. She was talking like a toad with sore throat. |

I weep for my country people! Is this what unemployment and "unemployability" has done to us? I feel so ashamed right now. I remember a few years back when NB also showed us some of the "failed contestants" on Gulder Ultimate Search". It was a pathetic site. We saw people who could not swim jumping into the swimming pool and then hanging on to the ledge waiting to be rescued. When Oceanic Bank also announced its football talent show, we saw "old" men who were willing to do anything to be a part. Anytime I see things like this, I get depressed. I am now quite sure if I should direct my simmering anger on the organisers who show us these people after turning them down or to these "contestants" themselves who put themselves up for such a "show". It is a sign of the "get rich quick" syndrome that has now taken deep root in our society. Pathetic! |
