Suarez??

Moral of the story ask your hussy to get a lawyer to draw up a contract to guide future engagements.
There are probably templates for this already online.
We pay little attention to law and contracts in Nigeria but solid contracts help to avoid stories that touch
With regard to the doctor get him to complain to the NMDC in writing .

In Nigeria though if you do not have money better to avoid trouble

Let's hear the other side.
It's surprising that with the many examples out there, some Nigerians have still not learnt to defer judgement till they hear both sides of a tale.
For eg,what if it was the husband of the op that went behind to tell the patient to see him at home for further physiotherapy sessions and the dr overhead the conversation and got pissed.
Again what if it was the physiotherapist that first assaulted the Dr? There are different versions of what might have happened.
The reason why it's good to hear both sides of a tale is that in many cases just by how both sides present their version of events,an unbiased sensible mind can have a good idea of who is lying because of the loopholes that would be found.

Medical Doctors in Nigeria are so unprofessional. You'll see just a general practitioner who's everything including a surgeon. And they keep doing a bad job, killing patients

Tell your husband to let go. Forget pride, he'd pay more than the amount to the corrupt police

Good day all.

My husband is a good and dedicated Physiotherapist, though he has not been so long into the profession. He manages himself now with private practice by treating people in their homes and offering his services to clinics and hospitals who need his services on agreed amount to be paid him as he is yet to get a well paying job in a hospital . He recently got a call from one doctor who owns a clinic around his area for treatment of a patient with physiotherapy case. It was agreed between him and the doctor that he will be paid 5k each day for three times in a week.

On the first day of work, my husband arrived and began treatment. The doctor entered and began asking series of questions about the processes and procedures. After about 20mins, my husband told him that he would like to be given some privacy and concentrate on his patient as he was being distracted. The doctor refused, my husband refused answering further questions; this angered the man. When he was done with the treatment, he requested for his money and the doctor refused.

And argument ensued. He told my husband to leave the hospital, my husband said its until he receives his payment for workdone. He began pushing my husband away and a fight began, he bite my husband in several places. They were later separated. My husband went and treated himself and proceeded to report the case to the police station. The doctor went and reported too.

Note: Some Doctors ask the Physiotherapists these questions while treatment is ongoing because they want to treat the patients themselves and they don't know about Physiotherapy. They end up getting a physiotherapist and after few sessions, they dismiss them with hope that they have learnt, all because of greed. They end up doing a bad job and the patients case keep getting worse.
I told my husband to forget all about it and he said Never, that he worked for it and deserves his pay. I told him i know but justice is hardly gotten in this country.

Note: we recently got married and don't reside in same state because I have a business here and I'm heavily pregnant, i will join him as soon as I get a shop in his location. This case is taking a toll on my bp and I'm so worried. please what can we do? Any other options? Thank you good people.

Mods, please help a worried pregnant woman and her husband.

Thank you.
You assumption about Drs wanting to know about the procedure so they could start doing physiotherapy services is quite myopic and wrong . He has every right to interphase with the professional as he needs to be carried along . Life isn’t that hard

Tell your hubby to get a complimentary card. When he's done treating a patient, he slips it into their pocket. Let him free the matter. There are some people that are like that, they have the money but refuse to pay. Don't worry karma will hit such person badly

Private hospitals train them on how to be a 'nurse'. They employ them as 'nurses'. Some hospitals have never employed a qualified nurse. In one extreme case I know of, a doctor's second wife who was an auxiliary nurse now acts as a doctor in his hospital.

Hmm ok im a physiotherapist
And we Dey suffer gan oo

But seriously there’s nothing wrong in answering the doctor, even if he wants to treat a patient after
It’s his life
Just answer and tell the procedure
If he then go ahead to do it himself then it’s his problem.

Though for the doctor not to pay is bad but then all these could have been avoided

This cannot happen in Lagos sha

You are right.
I think it's this mindset that made the physio guy to start reading meaning and began hedging towards what could probably be normal questions.medical practice have passed that stage when everything is enmeshed in secrecy.
These days patients ask all manner of questions after visiting google.
I wonder what they will think if it's the patient that is asking the questions.

This is a third party narrative by someone who was far away from the scene but based her judgement on a story narrated by one of the characters involved in the dispute.
Ur addendum note is even totally biased and one sided.
For this reason, I repel ur narration.

However, I'm surprised none of those commenting so far took note of the one sidedness of the story, narrated by one that was not even in the state at time of occurrence and are hastily pronouncing judgement.

I wish you can show your husband this thread so that he can hear some good advice. 5k is not worth losing his life over. That doctor seems ready to fight your husband in any way cos I don't know why a man will resort to fighting and biting an innocent person over his rightful wages.

I pray he listens and avoid further confrontations that will plunge you guys into a big problem. Since he has reported, he should let the case remain with the police and face his family.

The doctor invited your husband to provide a service to a patient he has an obligation to.

The doctor probably wanted to be sure of your husband’s competence.

Your husband took offense and railed against the doctor, who invited him.

The doctor probably at this moment, wanted the agreement terminated.

So, your husband asked for his fee.

The doctor declined because of your husband earlier dismissive attitude. As the doctor felt it was your husband who erred the agreement. Yh, you are a professional, but he has a duty to his patients. If your husband did a bad job, the patient could sue the doctor who recommended your husband.

So your husband, already livid, insisted on getting paid. He came to the hospital with Uber. He can’t just walk away. So he began to raise his voice.

The doctor told him, he was being a nuisance to the facility.

Your husband became more angry.

The doctor told him, to step out of the facility or he will be forcefully removed.

Your husband was boiling. He was trying to get hold of an item he could have a lien on. And so somewhat, after been emotionally overwhelmed, your husband became physical in his quest to obtain his money.

The doctor wasn’t as physically strong as your husband who was willing to get into the doctor’s pocket forcefully. So after, your husband held the doctor’s head underneath his shoulders, the doctor bit your husband to free himself.

Your husband realized no doctor would refer or invite him anymore. As his reputation is now damaged due to his conduct.

Although the doctor didn’t bite your husband brain off, may be in earlier fight. Because if your husband is thinking right, should have shared the doctor’s name and picture, so that you can not only embarrass him but equally destroy his reputation.

The problem their is most of ur husband patient will b coming from Doctors.. so if he isn't smart to move on and the matter escalate, other Doctors will know abt it and will not refer patient to him again, hence left at the mercy of those who know him before.

He should be smart to know this, no be every fight worth am, u think of things to loose, gain and bury ur ego..

Just like many of these Hosp who don't have private lab have special lab outside they refer their patient to, if u like bring one lab results from elsewhere they LL tell u to do another one in their trusted center. It's a collabo between them and lab centers.. We should learn to build relationships,

For ur own health, explain the above to him and beg him to let go, not for u alone but for his own career and progress in the job.
