I have come here because I believe there are elder folks here and religious people who can give me some guidance, perhaps spiritual guidance

I want to learn to make an oath or vow with God. I have prayed severally but my situations have become even harder. Life has hit me harder below the belt. But I am determined to make it in life.
Today i read Genesis 28:20-22 and Numbers 30:1-2 i realize how important an oath is. I want to make a vow with God but i am feeling its out of desperation.


I know God has not forgotten about me but why he has chosen silence about my predicament is what I can not fathom because I am only human and my knowledge is limited. I have tried my best way to speak with god but he isn’t responding. Maybe if i make a vow he"ll grant me the needed help and come to my rescue

Brother, what have you vowed before the Almighty ? That's the first question you should ask yourself. Secondly , whatever you wish to vow , let it be something that will pinch you ...yes, you heard me well. Don't ask me why but just do it . You'll come here and testify

But you must not change your mind afterwards

I've not done this before but I have asked for a sign e.g. if you want me to leave this Church, let this happen or if this is my husband, let this happen. And it worked for me.

But I've not done a "Do this for me and I'll do this for you."

Sometimes I feel like God doesn't care . I am really in need of His intervention. There's nothing I have not done to draw his attention to my plight.

First of all, God's Covenant and Law given to you, a gentile,is not that written in Genesis 28 or Numbers 30 - those instead apply primarily to the jews - those born of the blood of Jacob in their veins - Deuteronomy 30 vs 15 - 20.

You should instead look to what Jesus Christ, God's New Covenant Truth and Law in the Kingdom of God spoke to you as regards making vows with God. He, Jesus Christ, is God's agreement with those who will believe in Him through Jesus Christ.

2. Before you make a vow with God, you must be willing to and infact submit and obey His commandments , this because obedience if the key to receiving from God. Those who love God are those who obey His commandments given us by Jesus Christ, all almost 100 of them written of in the 4 Gospels - John 14 vs 15 - 25.

God cares and He only responds to those who submit to and obey His commandments- those who actually love Him - John 14 vs 15 - 25. They are the one's His promises are meant for.

Making a vow to the true God is good but then what is the motive behind your vow?

If it's about how you will become rich or gain special favour then forget it because the true God has no business with the people of the nations, He only deal with one single nation (Israel) and ever since they turned him down He concentrate on the newly born spiritual family called Christians.

So go and read the way He deal with the Christians, try to figure out if He ever respond to anyone who makes a vow after then for special favour. The one and only thing God will do for any human now is to extend the warmth hand of salvation which has nothing to do with material gain!

No, those who love Him are instead those who obey His commandments, all almost 100 of them written of in the 4 Gospels - John 14 vs 15 - 25 - those who are His friends are those who do as He asks/commands.

To love God is not to make vows and all the meaningless things we do, but to obey God's every commandment..His Law we are meant to live by in the Kingdom of God.

Absolutely!

The New Covenant commandments give you by Jesus Christ bear no hard resemblance to the 613 statutes and commandments God gave to the Children of Israel in His Old Covenant Law of Moses, so do not for a second assume that by keeping that Old Law written of in the books of Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy, that you also keep God's Law to even we Gentiles through Jesus Christ. They are not the same Law and should not be assumed so.
