The second screenshot is the meesage I received from the same number hours later...

In fact, the law only allows lenders to inform your guarantors, and not all the contacts on your phone. It is illegal to bug other people with a loan agreement that does not concern them. The loan agreement should be between the lender, the borrower, and the borrower's guarantors. Nothing concerns every other person in the borrower's life or phone contact list.

The only means allowed them under the law is to report your BVN to credit bureaus which would affect your credit score.

But because many of these lenders are operating illegally, they can only report you to fellow illegal lenders and not credible lenders like banks.

I tire for Nigerians oo.
I no longer lend money. If you lend them money, just makeup your mind that you either lose friendship or your money or both. I can only lend my immediate family what I can afford to lose but friends or outsiders... nope.
