A Twitter user, Uncle Sarm has lamented after he discovered that the tuber of yam he claimed to have bought for N2500 at a market in Lagos, was rotten, IGBERETV reports.

He shared a photo of the yam with the caption;

I know that the country is hard. But buying a tuber of yam for N2500 is reckless stupidity.

Unless he has inflated the price and this is just another Twitter super story.

Don't be too quick to conclude he is lying bro, I bought a tuber of yam for #1,500 here in Ogun state some weeks ago and I'm sure it isn't going to be the same price in Lagos. Yams are really expensive right now, you need to see how the mallams were feeling very fly in the market. You price rubbish from them they won't even reply you anymore.
Bro, it's cheaper in Lagos self. I buy yam for 700, some even sell for 600 self.

Hmm. But can't you tell rotten yam from good yam.

It's pretty easy.

Be careful of yams that are very black, always go for light brown coloured yams.

You can also feel the yams to know if it's bad but in this method, the yams will already be very bad before you know.

Hey...

So how exactly does bad yam feel?

Check very well, 98% of those wicked souls in Lagos are actually the economic migrants from the worthless barren land.

Yes, I thought as much. From neighbouring lands, with brown roof and bad roads and heardsmen killing and Fulani overthrown lands.

U lie!
The person that sold that yam is your Yoruba broda/sister. Stop blaming others for the fraud perpetrated by your own kinsmen.

It all depends on size, the one I bought for #1500 I ate it 3 times and looking at the ops pics that's a big size yam you can't get that for #600 in Lagos atal.

Hey...

So how exactly does bad yam feel?

Don’t mind that one she knows nothing.

Avoid yams with wounds on their bodies...especially decaying wounds.

Always raise a yam up with ur hand and feel the weight for it’s size...if it’s heavy...the flesh is still intact. If otherwise, disease is gradually eating up the flesh beneath the bark.

Make sure yam looks very smooth...avoid yams with very rough bodies

Also watch out for ants roaming on the body...it also shows yams that have long been harvested and stored over time, thereby rotting away.

Nigeria lacks food storage system...one problem killing food sustainability in this present times.

Not a farmer but I really attended agric classes back then

One tuber of yam for 1500
Are you trying to tell us you’re rich or that you’re dumb

This one has clearly never crossed his village boundaries.

Some Nigerian youths will just shamelessly embarrass you with their repugnant ignorance.

Polycarp, just quietly sit in your father's mud house and ruminate on that free garri and yam that's being harvested from your ancestral lands...and leave conversations like this for people with the requisite knowledge.

He actually stated, "he hate this Lagos", lol. I find this sadly funny because when i saw the thread title, Man Complains After Buying Rotten Yam In Lagos (Photo)), I clicked in with the intention of ribbing Niralanders by replying, "I Hate Dis Nigeria!". This was going to be my way of pointing out just how ridiculous some of you can get when criticizing the country. Of course, to make the point , i chose an exaggerated, preposterous remark, i didn't think anyone would say, but lo-and-behold! shocked

The apparently dishonest price tag makes me want to say you deserve it. That aside, this is really bad and we can’t be sure the seller sold you rotten yam on purpose.

THIS BOY IS MOST STUPID AND ANYBODY WHO BELIEVES THIS STUPID STORY IS ALSO MOST STUPID.

LOOKING AT THE PICTURE OF THE YAM....IT IS VERY VISIBLE THAT IT IS ROTTEN EVEN ON THE OUTSIDE SKIN.

EXCEPT HE IS BLIND AND STUPID THEN HE IS JUST CHASING STUPID CLOUT.
