This is the season of rotten yam or tuber product, just be vigilant when buying yam .
Most yams in d market are stored yams. And most stored yams tend to rot as time time goes on. A farmer once told me that yams that rot so well are those fertiliser yams. Yams that were grown with fertiliser do not have a long life span. You will see them mostly very huge and heavy. Once u cut a part to eat today after some days the other half has gone bad or started decaying.
Best time to buy yams are during d great harvest. Fresh yams

Everyone should note that this is planting season for yams..so when buying yams shine ur eyes.

Check very well, 98% of those wicked souls in Lagos are actually the economic migrants from the worthless barren land.

Yes, people from Osun should develop their state, everyone is not from former capital AKA No man's land. Barren like those without oil and gas? Well only south west and North hold that title.

Is not the fault of the seller or the yam, neither is not the fault of the buyer too, it's nature, the yam had cancer.

I guess the only way i can think to redeem the individual's stupidity is to imagine that, all along, there has existed among certain groups a "let's get Nigerians to think, sleep and dream a hate for their country by creating the psychology of a self-fulfilling prophesy situation. We do this by planting members on all politicized social media spaces visited by Nigerians. Their role will be to comment with , 'I hate dis country' or and variations of this, to any report from Nigeria regardless of how innocuous.

And now that Lagos is beginning to industrialize or mature in such away that it may drag the rest of Nigeria kicking and screaming into fulfilling he gigantic potential, these groups want to mount a #i hate dis Lagos, campaign.

This one has clearly never crossed his village boundaries.

Some Nigerian youths will just shamelessly embarrass you with their repugnant ignorance.

Polycarp, just quietly sit in your father's mud house and ruminate on that free garri and yam that's being harvested from your ancestral lands...and leave conversations like this for people with the requisite knowledge.
Lol, OBO so u buy your own yam 1500 per tuber too
Muntula grin

Don’t mind that one she knows nothing.

Avoid yams with wounds on their bodies...especially decaying wounds.

Always raise a yam up with ur hand and feel the weight for it’s size...if it’s heavy...the flesh is still intact. If otherwise, disease is gradually eating up the flesh beneath the bark.

Make sure yam looks very smooth...avoid yams with very rough bodies

Also watch out for ants roaming on the body...it also shows yams that have long been harvested and stored over time, thereby rotting away.

Nigeria lacks food storage system...one problem killing food sustainability in this present times.

Not a farmer but I really attended agric classes back then

Thanks! have had a few bad experiences so this really helps

Hmm. But can't you tell rotten yam from good yam.

It's pretty easy.

Be careful of yams that are very black, always go for light brown coloured yams.

You can also feel the yams to know if it's bad but in this method, the yams will already be very bad before you know.

That decayed yam up there has more chances of being the president of America than Tinubu and his band of senile drug dealers and criminals coming close to Nigeria treasury ever again.
