Sell that car asap and retrieve your peace of mind.. As it stands, all Corolla Drivers, especially this model, are within the gunsights of all armed robbers, petty thieves, car jackers, vandals and assassins across Nigeria..

Next time e fit be you dem go vandalize because of that silly vehicle sad.. Better make hay while the sun shines

Safety first.. That silly fuel economy and durability Corolla mantra can take the back seat...

Na who dey alive and safe and who dem no vandalize him moto dey enjoy fuel economy

This is just you escalating the issue.

As much as the Corolla brand is most sought after, this incident could have been any other car.

I've been driving corolla for a while now and not a single incident.

Buttom line, every car owner need to always take extra measures towards save guarding their cars.

I want to switch to less popular car: which is better between 2008 Honda Accord and 2008 Volvo S60?
At first, I never want to say anything but the moment you mentioned Honda Accord!!!

Accord is a super car compared to that overrated toy cum Corolla.

Toyota Corolla sad-boys won't like my comment tho

get the special investigation unit of the police, let them run a finger print on the areas the robber used and dont forget to rip them , uou will be shocked who did it

When police get the finger print, is there any database to match the finger print and detect the culprit or police will begin to catch everyone on the street and conduct finger print test for them?

I don't know why some Nigerians are so heartless. I went to execute some Projects yesterday after first service. I got home past 10 (pm), I went to my car this morning to pick some document from the boot. When I was leaving, I pressed the lock key from the remote, it didn't lock. When I checked properly, I found out that brain box, the driver side glass button and passenger button were all stolen.

I am so pained, this is happening after spending over 500k to fix and replace the engine.

Pls what should I do now, I need to make a critical decision on this Corolla of a thing. I really needs your advice.

Thanks
Just seeing this on the front page.
This is how AJ's bespoke Range Rover was stolen where it was parked in England and never found.

I sympathise with you on the car
vandalism.

Cheers.

This is why I hate corolla. I remember I wanted to get a car for mom, lots of corolla but I decided not to cuz its a thief magnet, if they can't steal the car, they vandalise.

One thing I recently have taken note of is that 1 out of 5 cars is a corolla but looking down your street you'll hardly see a corolla parked outside.

Painful thing is that once your car gets stolen, if you're not fast enough to track it down (if u have tracker), they hardly sell it anymore, they take it apart (butcher) and sell. Cuz selling in one piece has a higher probability of being traced.

To be on a safer side some people weld in their ecu to prevent it from being vandalised. because some alarm too dey worry neighbours wen small breeze blow, these day people only go for keyless entry only and not one that has security. Success rate on Vandalism of corolla is on the high side. I haven't really heard anyone was caught red handed.

when they tell people to buy German cars like Benz dem go run. A Mercedes Benz alarm will trigger and will keep beeping the worst part, is you can't drive the car again

Except Benz of then. New ones now are crap. Try own one for at least five years and check how much you spend for repair.

Your Benz fit spoil you go search the whole country you no go see the part. A friend of mine spent 3months just to fix ignition issue.

Apart from Toyota, I can only recommend Honda and it's sibling (Acura). Or any old version of those German cars (Benz, Volkswagen, and Honda).

As for car alarm:
Same alarm can be installed on Toyota vehicles. Prevention is better than cure it's just that in Nigeria we like to look for cure.
Re: My Toyota Corolla Vandalized by aikyg(m): 7:25pm On May 16, 2022
The thief lives in your neighborhood. Make report the matter to the estate security. Report to the police and make sure you bring a uniformed police officer to your place to come and inspect. The thief will know that you are not taking it lightly. They'll not near your car.

Is there anti theft car alarm system in Nigeria?

Check and buy one.

When they hit your car, the alarm goes off - scare them away.

Ok. For Sedan,
Honda Civic
Hyundai Elantra
Volkswagen passat
Volkswagen Golf
Fiat (cheap and fuel efficient, but don't know availability of its parts in Nigeria, however if any part is needed, it can always be made available)
Mazda

This Internet period, if you need any car parts and your mechanic is sure of what is needed, you can order online or contact some of us here to help you get those parts. Parts availability issues shouldn't be a major problem these days. There's auto section, there are online shops abroad, where you can get the required parts. Unless, price is the limiting factor

Look very well. They broke the last small glass at the side from there they gain access into the car. From that hole they open the back door and the rest was history.

I was surprised you didn't mention battery and radio. It looks like they didn't remove your battery and radio.

The theif is in the same street with you and probably an electrician.

Every night from 1am to 2am. They go about the street looking for car to vandalized. Especially cars that are pack in the dark.

Look like the person don't want load because he would have remove your 4 rims and battery.

Sadly it is. If you know much about Internet you will know that exporting and importing electronical or mechanical devices (b/w countries) has lots of protocol.

I have had an issue with BMW part b4. I will never wish that problem on my enemy.

Toyota and Honda are well built than other vehicles and the parts are easily available.

If I get a new mecedes in the future, it will just be for fashion not my daily driver.

The reason theif avoid them is not because they are secure. It is because they won't see people to buy the parts unlike Toyota and Honda.

Go for the Accord. That particular generation called evil spirit is fuel efficient. Though not like Corolla, but you will have peace of mine. And the suspension is better than the previous models.

You may put alarm on your vehicle the sound may scare intruders away
