They flogged the entire class, only one child died. Obviously there was something else wrong with the child that the "trauma" from the flogging exacerbated. I feel for the parents though, it's quite a sad state, but in all honesty, even the parents will admit just flogging didn't cause his death. A competent autopsy will probably identify the root cause.

I attended a private school. They didn't flog but were very strict with us. Any wrong move and you are out of the school.

The bolded can only happen in a school where the teachers have no authority at all and have no say. Some schools are just all about the money so anything the parents' say goes.

From my experience and point of view ,the child may not be sick prior the sad day .The beating may be the push to what killed him .

I remember a day like that .Got to my kids school to pick them but met them in a situation,a boy fell and blood was coming out from his head.I was told it was my son that was running outside who mistakenly pushed the wounded boy .

My boy in his defence said no, that the wounded boy was playing rough with another boy which led to the fall but some of their classmates said it's my boy and right there my boy started crying that they lied.

As he was crying,he started vomiting ,foaming thst we have to start patting his chest cos his eyes was closing up ��.When he was okay ,he said mom,I hate lies and it was then that those classmates now said they lied on him .

It might be the boy took the beating wrongly,he was choked and died.Rip to him and may God comfort his parents.

Perhaps he has been ill without the knowledge of his parents. I was also a victim of brutal beating in secondary school by prefect and staff way back 2004. I had to study my daughter current school well so that my daughter doesn't experience hash learning experience, it's really traumatizing, thank God I can afford a good school with professional teachers for her. Some school need to understand that discipline is different from brutality. May his soul rest in peace and may God comfort his family and the school management.

There is one important question both of you ignored before declaring the beating harmless, and that's where the cane landed on the boy's body? His sudden death was a sign of violence and trauma, no doubt. A kid that didn't show any sign of illness in the morning couldn't just be taken away suddenly like that in the afternoon by sickness unless he ate poison.

I guess you are really yet to be a parent. And if it's true that u don't beat your children. Let the school know from the beginning. Some schools will even not admit your children sef.

The teacher could have flogged him too much but given that the teacher flogged the whole class,why didn't all the pupils die?. I think something is amiss. I don't know what to say about this but why didn't other pupils vomit and die after the flogging? I think something was wrong with the boy's health. Most of us condemning teachers for beating our pupils also went through flogging while in public primary and secondary schools. We were beaten but we didn't die. Why did this boy die?
