He is not spending a day in jail. He was fined 50 million for stealing 1 billion (in today's money)!
The fine is with the jail term sir he can't escape jail term because the judgement said sentenced with Option of fine not just a fine.
The law is that a convict can be fined without jail term, or jailed without fine or the both jailed and fine.

See this one. This is exactly why they keep getting away with these nonsense judgements. They count on the fact that general public like you don't understand nor try to understand these things.

Very vague and empty reporting. Rubbish.

How can some1 steal such amount without it being authorised or what he a staff or ceo of the company??

Want to hear the shocker? He might actually be the best candidate to change Nigeria for the better.......The most dangerous person is one that people do not see as good or effecvtive, what does he have to lose? Nigeria is a cancer, it takes a rugged and sharp person to do anything meaningful......Anyway we slice am, we have 3 choices, Obi who won't even get 20% of the votes, Atiku a known mad man with nothing to offer but revenge for being schemed out of the rpesidency by OBJ and Tinubu a morally corrupt individual who is feared both in the North and South.

Let's set sentiments aside, all the options are BAD, so pick your poison wisely!

I'm just seeing "stolen" without any mention of who owns or where he stole the money from. Even the converted which is of Nepal oil, there's no clear mentioning of who owns the company and who sued the guy.

Maybe is one of the oga's properties.

N50m is less than 15% of what the young man "converted + (stolen from thin air)."

A company is a corporate [Person]
Ownership of the company is irrelevant to this issue.

But if you want to know those behind the company, you can read about the person instituting the case or better still CAC registry to dig deep.

Not all the options are bad. Tinubu rigorously sold us Buhari and, as leader of the rullling APC all 8 years, was part of the inner circle. You really think we should reward that? Atiku is a confirmed crook. Obi is the best option. He is at the perfect age to be president, he has demonstrated frugality with public funds and cost of governance and he is squeaky clean (never mind the hyped pandora nonsense. Everybody had pabdira and his the mildest)

It does not matter if Obi is the best candidate, what matters most importantly are the voters. Obi is popular with social media and perhaps the SE/SS, outside of those he's persona non grata. He's not going to get 15% of votes in the North, he's not going to get 20% of votes in the SW so how do you realistically see him as the best option?

Make we set sentiments aside, elections are won by raw numbers, who can pull the most votes. Nigeria has proven that the more educated you are the less likely you're going to stand in line 3-4 hours to vote. This is why Tinubu ansd Atiku concentrate more on the ground game. If I was a betting man, I'll place my chips on the guy with the best grassroot machine.

The judge must be very stupid. Someone stole 430million and you sentenced him to 10years with the option of 50million as fine. It is finished with our Judiciary system undecided

Judge isn't stupid. You can be sure he collected his fair share of the loot. Just as the guy's lawyer and EFCC collected theirs. Even one or two journalists and influencers will collect theirs to start the fake headlines

There is high possibility that his properties forfeited by the efcc is approximately much more than that amount he stole , the court is not daft

I'm not sure you understand what best option means. It does NOT mean who is most likely to win the election. It means who we OUGHT vote for.

As for your calculations, I suspect there'd be things at play in this election other than tribe and religion. Also, I expect something HUGE to happen b4 the election proper - something that will change everything

Best option to me means facing reality. What's the use of a best option that would never get to the promise land? Anyways it's okay to lick sugar, if there's anything I've learned from Buhari, THERE'S ALWAYS ROOM FOR MORE DISAPPOINTMENTS grin grin

Law is not a matter of what you think. You are confusing OPTION with PLUS. If a person is given 1000 years PLUS fine of N5k, it means they do BOTH. If you see OPTION it means they do one or the other.

Anyway from now onwards you know, so always help make noise so there would be truth in sentencing, or at least let journalists be honest in their headlines because they do this ALL THE TIME!!
Everything in Nigeria is crooked and corrupt!

You know fully well PO has a squeaky clean image for a reason. An image they are soo jealous of. Godfather types swore to destroy him, and after decades of digging, what did they come up with? Pandora! A big, fat NOTHING that everone was on (see below), Obi's own being the mildest. I honestly don't know how Nigeria produced such a politician!

But my brother, seriously, you know you have to live in this country AFTER elections. Of all people in Nigeria is it really someone with so many scandals we should be voting for president? And a KNOWN Boko Haram sponsor and rabid tribalist for VP?
Plus the guy is the one who vigorously sold us the failure called Buhari, and was part of the inner circle as leader of ruling party, and therefore shares fully in Buhari's failure.
And he is also way too old.
Tell me sir, WHY EXACTLY are you supporting him??
