instead of passing through Owo to Okene, make una pass through Owo-Ikare-Kabba-lokoja.

That Okene to Lokoja road no too good.

The road is a bit better right now.

The road is presently been dualized.

I came back to Abuja from Onitsha last week Saturday and that's the road we followed.

My best and shortest route is ilesha - Iwaraja - efon alaye - erio - aramoko - ijero ekiti - ido ekiti - oye ekiti - iffe ijumu - kabba to obajana then head straight to lokoja. Lokoja straight to Abuja. Passing through Akure, Owo, akoko to ibilo, okene, Lokoja is a long route.

I wish you safe journey

Thank you.

The driver came back from Abuja yesterday and he said the road is bad. Since it's his route and he Plies it all the time, it's only normal we let him decide what's best for the team.

We've fixed the temperature issue. No more AC.

We're not even bothered about when we get to Abuja. Everyone is gisting and laughing and happy. Nobody's in a hurry.

We're back on the road.

Abuja is one city I swore I must visit before end of the year. Either work takes me to Abuja or I travel for vacation.

Next year will be Kano and Jos

We have moved o. The driver did not go through Lagos-Ibadan route. He said the road is terrible at some point.

He faced Benin -Ore road and said he'll climb the bridge at Ore and connect towards Owo. Who am I to argue with driver wey Sabi road pass me.

Oya see pictures.

I'm impressed with the driver. A young family and easy going guy. The road is free. He said it's because it's Monday and people aren't going to the East.

We're doing 130/140 km/h

So far, everything is fine. The AC made the car temperature go up so he turned the AC off.

As at the time of typing this, were at Ore heading towards Akure. We left Lagos late. The driver is good.

We're 4 young men and 3 ladies in the car. Two of the ladies are with 3 kids.

The moment we hit the road, they all slept off. Na me and driver dey gist. grin nice guy I must admit

How much is the the fare from Lagos to Abuja?

So far, my journey has been an excellent one. My fellow passengers have been exciting. We've talked about tons of things.

The roads on this route are excellent. We're alternating between 130-140 km/h. This is steady. Driver is dropping steady and classic Igbo music.

At this point, I must commend the kids travelling with us. They've been peaceful. No crying or wailing.

As I type this, we're at dangote cement factory in obajana.

What's a thread without pictures? cheesy

1st picture is suya and Pringles. I bought Pringles for the kids and they were excited. Their mom and aunt are nice young ladies.

Second picture is Rufus Giwa polytechnic.

We also passed by Adekunle Ajasin university akungba. We were so fas I couldn't get a proper picture.

3rd picture. I found soft fresh agbado. Very sweet.

4th picture is The cement factory at Obajana.

Obajana has terrible roads. I presume this is because of the heavy duty trucks plying this aspect of the road.

Permit me to add that we've met a few security checkpoints manned by men of the Nigerian Police and the Nigerian Army.

The Nigerian army personnels were stern looking but nice guys. Cracked a few jokes for us. May I also add that they were smartly dressed and neat. I told one 'esprit de corps'. He asked which and I told him I'm not a force man but my dad and uncle were forcemen. I told him Major general**** was my uncle. You needed to see how his face lightened up. I also told him my dad's rank in the Nigerian Navy and the guy gave me a handshake.

God bless the Nigerian military. They're not perfect but they give their all to see us safe.

Unfortunately, I cannot say the same for men of the Nigerian Police force. Shabby looking men who were asking us for money.

I told one of them to dress properly and tuck in. He responded and said "your mama".

I looked at him straight in the eyes, called his rank and name. I said "sargeant bawa, what did you just say?" He froze and apologized.

Experience has taught me that When you call a service man by his rank and add his name, he behaves himself. Probably because he thinks you're a force man with a higher rank or you probably know his superior. This is a wild guess but it always always works for me.

One of the passengers was dropped at Lokoja. Such a nice, easy going and funny guy. He said he's going to akungba.

So far so good. Ahead ahead we move.

Attached here is a picture of Arise Tv studio van.

While taking the pictures, one of the passengers asked if I'm a journalist. I said no and asked why. She said I've been snapping since the beginning of the trip. Then I told her I started a thread here and I'm updating my nairaland people.

A few pictures from kogi.

Lokoja is a dirty city (apologies to any who feels offended).
From here, I got about 2 hours to cover before I hit the city of Abuja.

We had a few issues with our brake but it's all sorted out. No cause for alarm. Everything is under control. grin

The arise TV guys have passed us. cry This was possible because of the delay we had checking our brakes.

Location update: we've passed NNS Lugard. The naval base at Banda.

We're heading towards Abaji.

Day is getting dark.

Brother, thank God. No bandit or kidnapping?
Is this news of kidnapping and banditory exaggerated

So we had an accident immediately after my last post.

A trailer stayed in the centre of the road. After honking several times, he didn't budge so we decided to overtake.

While overtaking, we were honking. More than half of our vehicle has passed, the trailer driver swerved towards us and hit us. The hit damaged a small part of our bumper.

Both drivers parked to assess the damage. Trailer driver is saying we're the ones that hit him. We're insisting that he's the one that hit us.

On careful observation, the driver doesn't even have a side mirror so he didn't see us coming before he swerved towards us.

Trailer driver is asking to pay 15k for damage. Our driver is angry. He called panel beater and panel beater is saying 40k.

They're here arguing. I'm snapping pictures for you guys. cheesy grin

Am i bothered? No.

It's not exaggerated. However, their activities are heightened on certain roads.
