Next time don’t pour the watery pap away , switch the gas on , and pour inside a pot, a little fire on it with a spoon to stir from time to time , will normalize the pap for you.

Pap is very easy to make but it can be tricky

Make sure the water you're using is very hot, pour the water into the pap gently and whisk it.

Lol, Bro never call Pap ordinary.I'm a kitchen champion and Pap messes good cooks up once in a while this I know.
Pap has little details you really have to give heed to.

From your write up you have a healthy marriage I wish you more of that bro.

Semovita will make you doubt yourself grin.

The hot water, while pouring it inside your Pap should be little. Pour it gently

I think it depends on 2 things; how the pap is mixed with the cold water and 2ndly, how the water is poured..

Can you tell us the gospel truth?

Which of the Akamu you said is always watery when it comes?
Re: A Week After We Got Married. by Dearlord(m): 7:19pm On Sep 29, 2022
Lol, very true.
Akamu will mess you up if you don't have first time experience.
For me I will mix my Pap with little water [never cold water] and pour a very boiled water gently as I stir till it get to my taste.

Hmmm...

(1) Uneven dissolution of the solute (raw pap) in the solvent (water). Pouring 100°C water into the solution would result to formation of lumps and/or balls.
(2) Non uniform stirring of the solution while adding the hot water will result to formation of lumps. In some cases, stirring may not be required while adding the hot water.

(3) Non uniform distribution of the hot water in the cold water + pap solution will result to the formation of lumps.
(4) Addition of more than the required quantity of solvent (cold water) into the solute (raw pap) in the initial stage of preparation will result to the preparation of watery pap.

(5) Addition of more than the required hot water into the cold water + pap solution will result to the preparation of water pap.
(6) Avoid addition of sugar into the cold water solution.
(6) Impatience in effectively mixing of the raw pap with cold water will result to formation of lumps.

(7) Fear...the fear of being a failure will result to failure (evident in your case).
(cool Lack of practice for oneself first will result to disaster and embarrassment (as evident in your case)

To prepare pap...well
(1) Dissolve the raw pap into cold water such that a thick solution is formed (not watery solution). The thicker the cold water solution, the thicker the pap when hot water is added.

(2) Pour the hot water gradually...with patience...into the thick cold water + pap solution and stop as soon as it thickens (stirring may be necessary).
Note: A slight addition of hot water may turn the thickness into watery paste. Also stir the cold water solution immediately before adding the hot water.

All these chemistry because of Akamu preparation?

Your teachers should be proud of you.
Your parents should be happy you have not wasted their money.

Congrats.

Sometimes after you're done pouring the hot water, just don't stir immediately..
Cover it to allow the heat do the work too.

Re: A Week After We Got Married. by nurudeen181(m): 7:35pm On Sep 29, 2022
what happens to the akamu relates to the process the maize or guineacorn or millet or what ever grain used is processed for the akamu... lets take for instance. you soak the maize for just 24hrs, it will react to hot water differently to the one that was grind few hours afyer soaking. it will be different with the one that stayed 3days inside water. it will react differently with the one perboiled or soaked in warm water. what ever the case maybe. if you add hot water to your akamu and it didnt give you the desired result, you need to heat it. just put it back on fire, stir until it rise. no shaking
