The forex being given to oil importers, medical importers, bureau the change is enough to carter for the whole Nigeria’s legit forex demand. Do you know the amount of forex banks are hoarding for speculative trades?

If banks are forced to sell to Ordinary Nigerians at N430 at a monthly cap of $1000 whoever needs more should source for it themselves.

There will be a whole lot less demand for black market forex.

haha...as if igbos would automaticaly stop black market because of obi....
you must enforce even with violence....are you ready for that....??

Why must EVERYTHING be centered around BUYING and not Production. You are hell-bent on killing the economy more than the damage you have already done to it.
Cos we are talking buying at the moment, if you want to talk production we can go there too.

That is how a trader thinks. Turn Nigeria into a dumping ground for all kind of junks. Container economist.. grin grin

Three candidates.
1. One wants to sell Nigeria assets to his friends at ridiculous price.
2. Second one wants to liberate imports and turn Nigeria into a dumping ground for foreign goods.
3. The 3rd one wants to focus on production of goods like cassava, ewa, agbado etc thereby providing employment to our youths...

Honestly, the choices cannot be more clearer than this.

When I meet people who think alike with me I just get too happy, I see people especially youths getting excited all over the country for nothing , nothing because history has not proved any of this candidates as excellent choices, yet when I say it get shot down, I told someone today that history has proved that Tinubu tops Peter Obi in terms of programs , policies and initiatives but that is at state level , that all his boys that performed at the state level have found it difficult at the federal level and that there is no miracle worker or saviour amongst any of the three

I told people all the 3 of them are all dependant on Dangote finishing and operating his refinery for us to have some minimal Forex savings that without that , there is nothing they can do about subsidy without backlash from the people , even Buhari edged all his bet on the same refinery but in the end it was ready in time thus exposing his Forex failures but people are not ready to discuss here , they will counter you with 'Suffering no dey tire you' or ' you want suffer make your children suffer too ' .

It is not about being emotional, but analysis based on experience and reality on ground. I will come back late in the night to explain some factors that made Obi analysis a container economic theorem. I am at a program now.

Meanwhile, I pasted part of my earlier submission below.

Peter Obi was the Special Adviser to Goodluck Jonathan on Economy, the economy failed woefully. That time, he was the Anambra State governor and Jonathan honoured him and made him Special Adviser on Economy, his sister, Ngozi Okonjo Iweala was the head of the Economic team, they liquidated Nigeria, after, the woman ran away.

IBETO was allowed to import and package cement in PortHarcout while FMN, BUA, Dangote & Lafarge invested on local production. There are so many things I don't want to discuss here. Apart from IBETO, there are many other deals that took place among their kinsmen. That is why they insisted Jonathan should not be probed.

In 1993, during the Presidential Debate on NTA Network service between Abiola and Tofa, Tom Ikim and Nduka Obaigbena were on the side of Tofa. They asked them a question on how to bring exchange rate down and stabilize Naira. Tofa said, he would peg Naira to Dollar rate. Abiola said a Glasgow Trained Accountant can never say he would peg Naira to Dollar. He explained that there are factors that forces exchange rate, you analyse the factors and work upon them to control exchange rate.

Container economist can say anything.
Before I proceed, let me set the record straight. Ngozi didn't run away. Google is your friend pls.

GEJ government was stabilised economically. During his tenure, forex was stable. In fact,I was making gains from my export business. Dollar was stable for years and our foreign reserve was huge. You could credit that to oil boom but under the current government, don't forget oil is also booming with nothing to show for it.

All the sectors of the economy were doing well. At the time world was hit by economic recession, na for cnn and other foreign media we dey hear am,when people lost greatly and were committing suicide as seen in Nigeria today. Except you don't want to be fair would you say all these facts weren't so.

I remember the excess crude money which was huge. Madam ngozi suggested they prepared for the raining day but Rotimi Amaechi prevailed on the finance minister to allow the then governors share the excess crude money. He was the chairman of governors forum that time if you remember. He was almost threatening the life of the finance minister at a point so the woman had to allow them and they squandered it. Mrs iweala didn't run anywhere. Their economic team helped a great deal in stabilising the economy and agric sector which produced Akinwumi Adesina, the AFDB chair.

That's not all, concerning the importation of cement cited. Ibeto wasn't the only one. Dangote also was importing from Ghana to Nigeria. SMEs were strengthened and a lot of new ones came up. I remember the Youwin programme which produced some existing entrepreneurs. A friend who grows honey in ibadan is one of them. Google Agrodata. They managed the economy so much that we didn't feel any recession.

The only problem of Jonathan wasn't about the economy but corruption which was why I joined buhari to send him off. They managed the economy well. There was a lot of money so they took advantage of that to loot. Madam Ngozi and her team managed our economy well. This Buhari's government had even set Nigeria back to the dark era. Sad!

Encourage importers of goods that can be easily produced locally to set up industries locally for the manufacturing of such goods with the assistance of the foreign producers.
By so doing we'll save our forex, create massive employments and wealth for the nation.

Simple reasoning indicates that we have to have plenty of fx for that to happen. And that exporters will not abuse the system by using the fx to import useless things like tooth picks when the economy really need the fx. They could also racketeer by selling the earned fx at higher rates. How will Obi address those issues?

Ok

It's time we understand the concept of global trade. Your imports are other country's export and your exports are other countries import. You should be more worried about trade deficit than all these ban this ban that.

Whats all this hullabaloo about rice?! Have local production driven the prices down? Does it make sense to you that the rice you produce is x3 of what you get when imported? You don't have a competitive edge in rice cultivation than say Brazil, India or Thailand my friend.

The attention the government gave to rice would have paid off if it was same attention was given to palm, ground nut or other cash crops which we have a global competitive edge, so you import another countries export and they import your export.
In a nutshell, you put your best product forward, that's the concept of global trade.
You man are living in a bunch of bana republic, is it the cost of $$$$ that made thing xpenssive in your village? if you lot dnt wanna talk about the $$$$ why compare the naira it?can one of you point out the relationship between the $$$$ and Inflation

Typical container economy ideology.smh.

I am not surprised at all. Someone already predicted this about HE Obi because Obi needs to keep importing foreign goods for his import business and supermarkets.

Little wonder he has nothing tangible to use to campaign for his 8 years in office as Anambra governor.

For the uncouth Igbo youths defending container economy, please go and look at the export side, if you see the export side of non-oil sector of Nigeria and where they come from in Nigeria ehn, you will never consider Igbo container economy as progress and never wish Igbo continues to be a dumping ground.

Check our foreign direct investments(FDI) too( screenshots of leading fdi states for both Q1 and Q2 2022 are below) and you will not see any SE states at the top 2 so these container economy is not it at all and not progress in the absence of FDI.

While SE is taking containers, Lagos, alone takes over 70% the FDI in billions! Apart from Anambra which is still very very low due to this container economy mentality and insecurity, all other SE states attracted zero fdi so far this year

Below is jiust the agricultural sector alone, watch cocoa from the SW and Sesame from the North with Jigawa the highest producer, doing multiple times the other agric ptoducts and bringing in forex into Nigeria and not destroying the environment or bringing in toxic contents.

I completely disagree with your suggestion that container economy is what Igboland needs.

Top priority for SE, and I agree with Prof. Soludo , is responsible parenting because most parents in Igboland have abandoned their responsibility of raising disciplined, respectful, educated and Godfearing patriotic children, these children currently litter the social media space for ipob terrorist group and jails in Nigeria and all over the world, followed by peace in Igboland un order to stop the shedding of blood of innocent patriotic Nigerians then investment especially from other tribes and foreigners so Igboland can attract investments and talents from other places like the SW does excellently.

Asiwaju Tinubu alone brought in multibillion dollars investment into Lagos and his successors built on it.
check my signature for free stuffs!
STFU: 80% of Forex goes to refined petrol imports. How many oil companies does Peter Obi own? Zero. Big players are: Tinubu’s Oando, Folayiwos, Adenugas etal.
Dangote is our largest importer. Otedola became a billionaire via diesel import.
Shoprite.. Naija biggest grocery chain is one of our biggest importers.. Why arent you mad at them.
Obi brought SAB/Inbev to build breweries across Naija. Their investments are worth $bns in Naija.

Liberate the gateways. Not the senseless, impactless and useless economic blockades the APC govt placed on the lucrative southern borders with attendant huge economic loss sometime back while the northern fringes were just leeways for terrorists to freely stroll in and do more damages.

Nigeria case is an import and a oil-mono-economy dependent nation because local production are not sufficient enough to meet local consumption demand.

And what did the senseless blockade Buhari government imposed on the borders yielded? Did local production increased or saved Nigeria from the present food inflation and insecurity nationwide especially with the insecurity menace on farmers?

Liberate the economic and provide security first, to encourage local and foreign investors that will boost the process and enhance food production to help us shift from local consumption to export.

You are mixing so many things up.

Trade restrictions is not the same thing as the border closure.

Bro you are being emotional here.

Peter Obi was the special adviser, agreed. NOI was the finance minister, agreed. But did you not hear that GEJ did not muster the political will to execute their policies, for example saving from the oil windfall then?

If NOI liquidated Nigeria, how then is it that after witch-hunting her, PMB put forth a proposal to her to continue as the finance minister? The woman turned it down.

How is it that the economic policies of the present APC government have largely failed? Can you explain all?

Is it also beyond Anambrarians who could not wait for the disaster called Peter Obi to be eased out of their lives?

But today, Peter Obi is the Igbo candidate who must be supported by Igbos and by many Chijiokes claiming to be "Tunde" or "Haruna".

Anambrarians have warned us from the past, Nigerians must avoid this one chance as we proceed to the future.

The chief importer wants to continue in his anti-Nigerian approach to wealth creation that builds other national economies instead of building Nigeria's.

Here we go again!

Some people will never stop until they liquidate Nigeria patapata.

Atiku wants to sell all assets owned by Nigeria.

Obi wants to open Nigeria yash wider for foreign bangers.

Tinubu wants to see Biden as USA spy so that all the money stolen can remain safe in America. He should go and ask Noriega.

Poor Nigeria, everyone for himself, nobody for the people because many are daft.

It was this same liberation of the economy that turned us into abject poverty by importing garbage and emptying foreign reserve.

They call it different names.
