I waited for some time seeking for help but help never came, the only choice I had was to spend the night at the bush. It was scary. I do watch a lot of documentaries about venomous snakes, I knew what to do to keep them away. But never knew what to do if I get bitten by one.

For the first time in that day, I became very hungry. I only had snacks in the morning in lagos, now I am in an unknown bush in kaduna with no food and water . It was dark and i couldn’t get my phone out to see my exact location. I know if I did, a human or animal will be able to follow the screen light to my location.

I was using an iPhone at that time, I did turn on “SILENT MODE” I did that by flicking the button on the side of the phone and lucky enough I had turned off the ring and vibrate option a long time ago. I was receiving calls, I know for sure, calls were coming in but I could not answer.

Here comes another problem, I know for a fact that I sleep and snore, and my snore can be too loud. What does this mean you may ask, it simply mean I couldn’t sleep. If you snore, you should know stress is a major reason why people snore. And my day was more than stressful, so sleep was ruled out.

I could hear sounds, both from humans and animals, I could hear cars honking and driving off from the highway. I closed my eyes to say a short prayer, I did. I did not know when I slept off that night, I woke up the next morning at about 7am -7:30am, I was very happy to be alive. I brought out my phone. I had about 40-55 missed calls, I can’t really say for sure. I checked my WhatsApp,I had received a lot of messages and phone calls from family members. I quickly sent a short text and recorded a voice message to my bro.

I also pleaded with him not to inform my parents because I don’t want them to get too nervous, you know that is not good for there health. I was looking very dirty with bruises all over my body, I was looking like a mad man but that wasn’t an issue.

I checked google map on my phone for the nearest police station it was about 4km from my location. I also checked for the nearest gas station. I saw one, it was not too far from the highway. I checked the gas station pictures on google, it looked functional but it wasn’t opened. I had no other choice than to go there.

I walked back to the highway after observing the road for about 10minutes. Everything was fine. The road looked better from the previous days. Cars were moving. I tried to flank down a couple of cars but non of the drivers wanted to stop for a mad-looking man.

When I got to the gas station, I saw a man there, He was asking too many questions, I barely responded becsuse I was not in the mood. I later asked him for the nearest bus station or where I could get a bus going my way. He was helpful. I thanked him.

I checked my wallet to see the exact amount I had, that was when I realized that I have lost my wallet all along, things couldn’t get any worst. Lucky enough I had very little amount of money on my bank app.

I took a cab to the bus park, I was so relieved and happy. I made a call to my bro and I sent me money, I got food and water . I got new shirt, I bought pure water and washed my hands and feet with it. It was around 10am, I over heard people talking about the attack from the other day. I did not join the conversation because I knew the story better than them. I got into a Toyota siana going my way, we waited for some time, no other passenger was coming forth. I told the driver that will pay for the remaining seats. We bargained and I paid him.

It was just me and the driver, I wasn’t observing the driver, if I did, I should have noticed some red flags, in my head things were getting better, I never knew things was about to change again.

The driver stopped at a point and a man from no where came to the vehicle,telling the driver about how he was duped some hours back, because he had dollars with him. The guy was telling the driver to take him to certain location, promising to pay us well. I barely understood what was happening.
