Greetings my people,

I am sure some of us have encountered this issue with some neighbours. Unfortunately I doubt if Nigeria has any law against this or maybe am not aware.

This particular neighbour changes generator set at least 2x yearly(no be JuJu be that?) with nothing other than watching movies and putting on his ACs. We no dey fit hear word for compound again expecially my family being the immediate next door neighbor.

Recently their generator is faulty and it seems they don't have money yet for replacement and they have hastily gone to rent a very deafening old gen. The type we hire to pump water. They have been using that for straight 3 days now. It's very difficult to sleep with that noise. If I vex question the man now, they will say it's because we don't have money to constantly fuel our own. What can we do?

It is well....how very inconsiderate of them. And it is not really their fault, na PHCN. If only the country works, who wants to expend money on generator and fuel? Who likes the noise? Who even wants the risk of the smoke? It is well....May God help you.

Why I feel very pained is because of the gen they went and hired recently. That one eh

I have my own gen too and fuelling it is never an issue but every time I wonder how people are so wasteful and useless. How can someone be buying gen twice in a year? No be curse be that?

Even when the whether is very cold, they must put on the noisy gen

Tell them to go solar instead, maybe that might help them a lot and reduce the noise around and everyone is happy. They could sell their generator and add money to get a solid solar system that has a television... highest it should be around 200k,and once you have it it's for life.

No

If you don't want to first talk to your neighbour about it and how it is adversely affecting your household, what else do want Nairalanders to suggest?

Just tell the Landlord or the person in charge of the house what you're facing. They are the best person to know how to properly handle the situation.

You’ll question me for putting on generator or say the generator is loud or what??
Wow! Bold kid.

It’s either you’re providing an alternate source of electricity for your neighbor or choke on it. Such audacity.

This is why it's very tricky. So do we assume there's nothing a disturbed neighbor can do about this type of issue? I will just look out for some more reasonable comments.

He should be able to afford solar.

Try introducing him to solar.
