As a guest, is it rude to finish or not to finish my glass before leaving or even leaving it almost untouched?
Which is rude please?

If you are my guest and you drink my cup of wine halve, I will not be happy. If it is water I may not be angry. If you do not touch it at all no problem.

It depends .... did you pour yourself?... if yes... you have to drink it all or you will be seen as greedy/a glutton/abuser of free stuff. If no ... the host is supposed to ask if to pour you some.... if you say yes then you should tell him when to stop... quarter glass or whatever. What is poured you must drink. If the full glass was set there ... then you don't have to drink... or drink it all.

I do finished my drink but I have a friend who abused me for finishing when I followed him somewhere that it's a sign of poverty. So I tire.

Is that inferiority complex or what?...Please ask him this question on my behalf...If a wealthy man comes to his family home to visit his parent and finished all the food that was presented before him, what is that wealthy man's "sign"?...

If that is a sign of poverty, I didn't realize I have been a poor soul all my life... Everyone around me knows how much I like cakes no matter the flavor...So if I come to your house as a friend and you present a cake before me, especially Lemon cake..I demolish it without leaving a crumb..that means my own sign of poverty has no match

It is the funny mindset some people grew up with.
I tell people, if I choose to eat in your house and you give me food/meat, I will eat everything. At my age and status, the food I eat in your house isn't sufficient to make me as big as I am.

My brother that mindset taya meOooo..
I don't usually go to people's houses but the few that I go to, I usually eat whatever that was presented before me... Especially if I like it.... I No no say Na a walking poverty personified soul I be..I dey even do shakara on top without knowing it grin

The question is how is it ethical for someone to waste food and drinks especially the food that u can entirely consume without stress...

Sometimes, I like Oyibo people when they do this, though I can't do it but supports those who can...
while at the restaurant or an eatery, if some can't finish their meal, they ask waitresses or waiters if they can package the leftover home... That mentality would have been tagged extra ordinary poverty mentality sign I guess grin

Rude if you don't touch it at all because it means you're downgrading what I offered you but it still better than drinking it half way cos that will go to waste as I can't help you to finish it up.

It's better to finish up the drink and nothing rude here because it was meant for you in the first place.

I don't usually finish my drink or food when I visit people. Even at home I don't.

The person up there who said It's a sign of poverty Is right. Your Host are watching you. Most wealthy/rich people are very sensitive.

I believe you are an adult and have the right to think the way you like ...
But have you considered the fact that you may have grown up and were being scrutinized in things that u do which resulted to having the mindset that it's norm to waste food and drinks to avoid being seen as a poor man?...

What if you are rich and whoever that is gonna scrutinize you is equally rich like you.... He sets a table before you and you do justice to the meals,... In your opinion, is that still sign of poverty eating the food that u can afford any time any day?

Chief, What I want you to know Is Our personalities differs.

Most educated and modern rich people I have met always act accordingly and are very careful with their activities. It's not like they are forming or something.

It's a thing of mastery.

I remember my nephew visited once I offered him drink which he didn't finish, I poured it in the sink and make sure next time he visits I offer him only water.
The painful thing is that he visited when I was broke and I find my way to make sure I offered him something. Lol
