Efo riro goes with anything like rice ,wheat ,poundo, semo any kind of eba, even lafun self follow amala. now you will be amazed efo riro makes you a thief when you take it with garri and water I mean when you soak garri in water with your mom cooked efo riro right in your front.and to kill it all have u tried efo riro with bread I mean with agege bread ehn ge ge also slice bread follow body shake.am a trench kid.

You are correct. I can't really tell what happened to the colour cos it didn't stay long in the water and I added cold water to stop the cooking process. Am thinking maybe the water was too hot but it didn't affect the taste. I will use a not too hot water next time for a more 'greeny' colour.

Anyone who’s read my posts knows that I’m not exactly the biggest fan of typical Yoruba soups (whereby I’m obviously not talking about the more nutritious hinterland/Ondo-leaning ones, which are much better) but efo’s a nice one that happens to be quite universal. And obviously you made it really well, GHM. Well done.

Yeah, you’re very correct. I ate this combo when I travelled to Abj about 2 months back at a nice hotel close to Inec housing quarters. Cost about 4500k with better stock fish. It was really worth it. Infact I am looking forward to my next trip to abj

A nice Yoruba Delicacy. This soup goes well with Rice

It is. I rant and rave about how non-Ondo/Ekiti Yorubas aren’t so good when it comes to variety and soups but two things they’re definitely good at cooking are efo and rice. All jokes of excess-pepper/oil aside no-one can pretend that on average Yoruba people don’t cook jollof rice at least just as well as Igbos. They’re good.

As far as efo riro goes I feel like yam and agidi (egidi, eko) are better bedfellows for it but it’s alright with rice. Mhm.
