This one piece of a sombre reminder of our own mortality. I have come to the realisation that we're nothing more than CARETAKERS of the things we own in this world, be it material things, children, wife/wives, etc. They either outlive us or we outlive them. Same with our body which isn't ours. It's going die eventually & eaten up by maggots.

IyaTola:
Nothing is Permanent In This World

I visited my 120-year-old grandmother and gave her some money when I was leaving and she told me she doesn't need money again.

That she can no longer buy or sell at her age, so I should give the money to the younger ones who need it.

I also have a former governor friend whom I worked with as a greenhorn PA. He was governor from 1999-2007.
Not too long ago, I saw him.

After check-in, he was left seated by the corner of the Murtala Mohammed international airport awaiting his flight.

No one even recognized him again, not even passengers from the State where he was governor, and as I walked up to him and greeted him, then asked if he wanted any assistance, he stretched forth his trembling hands to hold me and simply said,

"Thank you for even recognizing me again. I just want your attention briefly my daughter . Sit down let me ask you something.

How is your Governor doing?"

I also have a retired Major General friend whom I served as a golf caddy at the NDA golf course in Kurmi Mashi, Kaduna.
He was so rich he built a beautiful house he was so proud of.

I visited him too not long ago and wanted us to climb to our favorite spot on his balcony upstairs.

He stared at me with a broad smile and said, "IT, I can't remember the year I went up there. It is lizards and cobwebs and the likes that live there now.

Even the kids, when they come, they don't enjoy my company in the house any more than a few hours and they are gone.

I don't have the limbs to climb up there again and the cost of cleaning keeps getting higher."

I have seen a lot more things.
How yesterday became the day before, how today became yesterday, and how tomorrow became today.

How the past became history, how the present became the past, and how the future became the present.
Nothing ever remains where it is.

Your strength, your muscles, your beauty, your wealth, your guts, your worth, your courage, your talent, your YOU, will progressively diminish until it returns to its source.

The richest man in the world in the 1960s will not be on the payroll of the richest man in the world today!

Even the strongest lion in the jungle will someday become weak, and frail and be eaten by the same predators it once terrorized.

Keep that in mind always and know that no matter how appealing and tempting that thing may seem, our interest in it will diminish with time.

Our strength to consume or own it will vanish with time until everything is surely taken away from us or we are surely taken away from everything!

"Nothing is permanent in this world".

Wishing you very Reflective Times.

That is the reason Jesus said "I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day the night cometh, when no man can work."John 9:4...The night will surely come for everyone at some point,It's only in Jesus there is an everlasting portion.Paul said "
For this cause we faint not, but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day." 2cor.4:16.Just try and know the one that has designed your life like this. You really need Him cause one day all your strength will surely fail you!!

One day a little fish swims up to an older fish and asks her how to find the ocean. The older fish looks down on him and replies "The ocean? This is the ocean." The little fish looks back in bewilderment and responds "er ...but..but I'm searching for the ocean, this...this is just water"

Sorry about that, our government caused it all. They made us source for all necessity of life. They made us think we can't live tomorrow if we don't work today. They have solidly built in us the fear of unknown.

In advance world, they don't believe in much wealth, reason they have too many vacancies where we Africans are rushing to occupy just to make wealth/a living. But las las, the mother earth ll always be the ruler, the poor n the wealthy ll all leave behind all they laboured for

Ambitious people don't care about this kind of stories because it numbs the spirit. They cross the bridge when they get there. If old age and death are inevitable, why worry about them?

Don't forget that death still occurs in this world and it is permanent.

you're wasting your strength on a useless thing. Use it to build something the thread claims other people have but life made it useless to them at some point. It's worse if you don't have anything in future someone can write and even say it's no more what it used to be.

The only constant thing in this world is "time and death".
Time being the, "past, present and future" none of which is real except the present.

Many old men or let me say older people tend to live in the"past" the thoughts of their life is "how I wish" unfortunately, we can never know a better course of action to take until we take a terrible one. As a young person, weigh your options well, you've the strength to Carry out actions, resources may be low on your side but you can "leverage "

The young tend to live more in "frivolous present " and the "future ". They tend to ignore the present "now".

So, how to live life to your fullest? Once a month, picture or imagine yourself in your older years and reflect, any regrets? What could you have done better? If you lost all you had today, will you still be "yourself "? Have you discovered "yourself "? Have you thought about the things money cannot buy? Do you have the things money cannot buy?

Everything is fleeting, nothing is permanent except for time and death. As a medical personnel,I see death everyday and I know one day it will be my turn and I am ready everyday! So I live my life to the fullest.

Many wish to have "our kind of life". Many will whine you and say, boss man I want to be like you, whereas, deep within us, we wish we lived our life differently the degree to which varies to how much we've discovered or returned to our true self!

Sighs, life is empty and the only meaning is the meaning we give to it. The irony of life is the things we chase seems to elude us, but when we become more relaxed and happy, we tend to have it in abundance. Loss, is also a constant. To build true wealth, you must loose but a loss can be good if it's a seed. A seed planted in the ground and buried looks like death but with Time and chance, the right conditions, death becomes resurrection!

Fame is fleeting! To get fame is not difficult. I will never choose fame, I prefer to be behind the scenes, the dark curtain, it gives me more freedom.

Nothing is permanent, your life is whatever definition you give it! grin

Op, you said it all. That is life for you.
Many years ago, I have seen men that thought money will never finish. Max 5-10 years, everything gone. Most even dead. From big houses, rolls royce to driving kabukabu.
One fellow I sold a brand new jaguar car to 2001 or so for 11m. Imagine such big money then. That same man few years later was begging me for 5k to buy medication
. He died soon after.
My paddy that was a staunch supporter of one fellow, after 2015 entered, he lost everything, from 2 suvs to non, lost job, etc.
Aunty this life no balance at all.
I have seen one of the security men at the estate gate, write jamb and today a very senior manager in the banking industry. I have seen the poorest amongst friends as kids become the richest today. Heck, I got a friend that paid close to a million pounds for a house, no modgage, Nothing. Full payment payment!
One just just take life easy jare.

With respect to the bolded, I always wonder if that is real because I have only see that in movies.
If someone had money once that means he has connection that he can still use to regain his statute. Just my thought and I could be wrong

Dont even go far. Google chief Goddy Enabor. (sorry to mention names).
As per the other fellow, I sold that car to, I will never forget his generosity. Brokity held me, I had a new born and drove out out of frustration. Who did I see diving past me in his BMW 7 series then, this fellow Tony, he stopped me, saying he heard my wife game birth and instantly slammed me 10k! This was around 2003! Till tomorrow we remember him for bailing us out. God bless "Tony" may his soul keep resting in peace.
Oga when things go bad for people, no connection helps, Expecially when problems join.
That is why a truelly rich man is not one of 5, 10 even 20 years wealth but one that has wealth and sustains it for a lifetime. Call it God given blessings?
