It's better the poor benefit than the subsidy money stolen as always by our wicked leaders

SmartPolician:

This has nothing to do with protests.

Let's stop deceiving ourselves in Nigeria.

Petrol subsidy needs to go because we are losing so much to it.

The government just needs to come up with paliatives to cushion its harsh effect.

See you talking about palliatives as if you don't know what happened during covid-19 lockdown. A working refinaries will settle this subsidy but trust me the cabals will not want such to happen, that is why Nigeria youths are clamouring for Obi. Obi is the only hope for Nigeria.

When I come to threads like this, 99% of the comments are from SS, SE and SW

… I’m always on the lookout for core Northern comments but you will never find one.
A friend told me fuel is sold in all stations at ABJ for 175/180
A bag of foreign rice was brought from the north at landing cost of 34000, I repeat foreign rice! ( this I saw and experienced )

#300/litre in most fuel stations that is selling in Benin City. Transportation fares went up again yesterday and today. A place that was #100 before is now #300. 300% increase in transportation fares.
Which area in Benin City is selling #300? My wife n I have been going out by driving out almost on a daily basis n we buy fuel either in the car or for our generator at home. The price we have been buying fuel since Christmas Day is between 250, 255 n 265. Currently it is 265.

Losing so much what? The money they will save from subsidy removal will still be stolen, at least, let them wait for Peter Obi to remove d subsidy, then we will be sure largely that the money will be used for the overall improvement of Nigeria.

Refineries won't solve the problem.

Local refineries will only ensure they are always available.

Refining crude oil in Nigeria is costlier than importing into the country.

Fg should explain to Nigerians why can't we have a working refinaries. If a single man can embark on building refinery, why can't fg embark on such after selling crude oil for more than 6 years, beside that was one of Buhari promises

You think this fuel that are selling at #400/litre, they are not subsiding it?
As far government is concern, fuel is #168/litre, the excess are going to private pockets. Let government announce the official price of fuel is #400/litre so we know they are not subsiding it again.
About 6.something trillions were budgeted to subsidy fuel till June, 2023. You see you are ignorant for saying this?
Don't mind the hypocrite defending the wicked as if the most clueless government has not announced that they will remove the subsbidy Buhari claimed did not exist before now untill June when they are no longer in power!

I don't believe that refining crude oil in Nigeria is costlier than importing it, that will never be the case except if things are not put in place.

subsidy had been on for more that 16 years. Our insensitive government thinks the best thing is just is remove it. Meanwhile if they let it be, it will die naturally if they do the right thing. All the government need to do, is to build refinery even if it is just one and watch how subsidy will die naturally.
They will cause a problem and shift it to the citizens to suffer for it.
Do also know that if the subsidy is removed we will just suffer in vain because they will still steal the money.

You don't have to believe - it is what it is.

What you believe or not believe doesn't change a reality.

There are lots of things Nigerians import from China that are much cheaper than those produced in Nigeria.

FYI, there are many factors that drive production: labour cost, government policy, taxes, infrastructure (like power and access road), etc.

Nigeria is like a country without a government.
