A whole commanding officer. If this had happened anywhere in the South, the surrounding communities would have been raided and inhabitants killed.
For sure,Nigeria is not a country governed by common law. But two different laws with different laws.
We are not one!

Pure Truth....

This is very daring, well let's see if they will go to the village and slaughter innocent villager boys make them roll on the ground and do frog jump like they did last week on okigwe.

May God help and deliver the innocent army officer

More like an inside job to me. The story has every shade of a set up.

What a useless country? If this has happened in the east or ogun community or Benue the army and FG would have flexed their muscles by sending battalions there to kill the innocent people and sack the full community. A whole commanding officer? Security situation is terrible in this country

The abducted officer is the new commanding officer of the 8 Division of the Nigerian Army, Sokoto.

A Lt.Colonel commanding a Division ?

I thought this rank is meant for a Company not a Brigade and definitely not a Division that is reserved for a Maj.General.
My thought too. Generals command a Division. And not below the rank of Brigadier General. Therefore, Lt colonel commanding a Division in post war Nigerian army is a suspect!

Insecurity: Recruit 50 million youths into army, Tinubu urges FG

All Progressives Congress chieftain, Bola Tinubu, on Monday, urged the Federal Government to recruit at least 50 million youths into the Nigerian Army to boost Nigeria’s fight against terrorism, banditry and all forms of internal and external security threats confronting the nation.

Tinubu spoke at the 12th colloquium to celebrate his 69th birthday in Kano State.

He said, “We are under-policed and we are competing with armed robbers and bandits to recruit from the youths who are unemployed —33 per cent unemployed?”

“Recruit 50 million youths into the army,” he stated, adding that “what they will eat —cassava, corn, yam, will grow here.”

The APC chieftain, while reacting to recent statistics by the National Bureau of Statistics that over 23 million Nigerians are jobless, also urged the government to create jobs for youths in the agricultural value chains.

He said, “Don’t talk about illiteracy, anybody who can hold a gun, who can handle a gun, who can cock and shoot is technically competent to repair a tractor in the farm.”

A whole commanding officer

No piim from the army, or army of utchins

If this happened in okigwe or Akure, they will kill hundreds and sack the whole city.

A tale of two countries.

I didn't see your comment before I made mine above.
Yes, one part of Nigeria far north, regarding another part, SE, as enemies, is at the root of the soldiers rampage in the SE.

The Commander in Chief of the armed forces would not bring to book the soldiers killing innocent people and burning whole community in the east.

Strong reason i say, Yorubas, una eye never clear yet.
Let me tell you something, Your enemies are not the Igbos. Your enemies are the ones you dine and wine with - The Fulani. If there was no fulani tribe in Nigeria, South africa no go see our backs.
Nigeria runs on Sharia, and the normal commanding Law, we as the citizens do not know which to follow, and i bet you, Tinubu and Shettima will make it worse. Because the entire Nigeria would even become unhabitable for you as the citizens let alone foreign people who want to come here, this is tip of the iceberg.

Yorubas should put on guard from this point. Igbos are always ready for anything (na why una no like us) But when they finish with the north, they are coming for the West, only God knows what would happen... they are in Ondo already...

We're worse than pathetic as a country, and it makes me shudder.

This can't happen in any serious country, where outlaws operating within the territorial borders of a country would intercept a military convoy and abduct the commanding officer. Such a shame.

I am still wondering how an ambush can be carried out on a Military convoy in this modem times and a senior officer kidnapped.

What happened to advance movement aerial surveillance using Drones, or advancement aerial surveillance using Drones? What you cannot see at eye level, you can definitely see from the sky.

Yes, one part of Nigeria far north, regarding another part, SE, as enemies, is at the root of the soldiers rampage in the SE.

Will ThiefNuibu change that with his Muslim/Muslim ticket, calling Christians church rats who eat poisoned Holy Communion.
With the way that he covered up for Fulani herdsmen below, I don’t think he can change it.

bigboluet:
Tinubu, who is currently being attacked by Nigerians for keeping quiet over the deadly activities of Fulani herdsmen across the country, on July 14, 2019, said kidnapping is not peculiar to any ethnic group or a particular set of people.

Tinubu, who is currently being attacked by Nigerians for keeping quiet over the deadly activities of Fulani herdsmen across the country, on July 14, 2019, said kidnapping is not peculiar to any ethnic group or a particular set of people.

The former Lagos State Governor disclosed this while fielding questions from journalists after paying a condolence visit to Afenifere leader, Reuben Fasoranti, whose daughter, Funke Olakunri, was killed by gunmen along Kajola – Ore Road.

Though Afenifere said the attackers were herdsmen, Tinubu denied the claim, saying those blaming them for the death did not have evidence.

He said, “I am extremely concerned about security but I don’t want stigma. I can go through history of kidnapping and we know how it started, where it all started, there are lot of copycats, how many years ago have we faced insecurity in this country and cases of kidnapping? Is Evans a herdsman?

“I don’t want to be political, but I will ask, where are the cows?”

Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, suspected kidnapper better known as Evans, was arrested by the police in 2017 and is still in their custody.

Evans' arrest was described by the police as a major achievement as he had been wanted for some time.

Indeed to show how big the arrest was, the Police Service Commission (PSC) in April 2018 said 45 officers who participated in the successful arrest of Evans had been granted special promotions.

The APC stalwart further said Olakunri’s death was painful, but added that she was destined to die that way.

“It has been destined that that is the way she would go. You can't change what is ordained by God. One way or the other, it could be death by road accident, or any other way,” he said.

However, in April 2019, the police arrested some suspects said to be responsible for Olakunri's death. They were identified as Lawal Mazaje, 40, from the Felele area of Kogi State; Adamu Adamu, 50, from Jada, Adamawa State; Mohammed Usman, 26, from Illela, Sokoto State; and Auwal Abubakar, 25, an indigene of Shinkafi, Zamfara State.
The suspects are currently being tried and some reports have identified them as Fulani.

Rotimi Akeredolu, Governor of Ondo state had last week ordered herders to vacate the forest reserves within seven days over the rising insecurity situation in the state

He had said “bad elements” have turned the forest reserves into hideouts for keeping victims of kidnapping, negotiating ransom and carrying out other criminal activities.

Sunday Adeyemo, better known as Sunday Igboho, also asked herdsmen in Igangan in Ibarapa North Local Government Area of Oyo State to leave within seven days following reports of the killing of some residents.

Akeredolu and Igboho’s directives had sparked different reactions, with Garba Shehu, presidential spokesman, saying the governor could not unilaterally oust thousands of herders “who have lived all their lives in the state”.

But Afenifere, Yoruba sociopolitical group, said Shehu’s response showed that President Muhammadu Buhari’s government prioritise Fulani interests above those of other ethnic groups.

In some parts of Nigeria driving a convoy rather than protect the occupants, draws attention to them.

Seeing as they always drive as if they own the road, sympathy comes hard to me in this matter.
