Are The Old Testament's Prophets In Hell Or Purgatory? by Banilla: 3:30pm On Jan 13, 2023
Hi everyone. I have a question. In the Old Testament, there were a number of prophets chosen by God to do his work, guide his people on earth, announce the coming of Jesus Christ and so on.

They were all Jews, not Christians. They weren't baptized before their deaths and they never accepted Jesus as their Lord and Saviour. So they were heathens. While Jesus was born and raised a Jew, he was baptized, setting an example for his followers so they attain heaven.

Are Abraham and Isaac and Samson, Elisha and Esther... Are they and the others burning in hell for all eternity? Or in purgatory?

Or heaven? If so, does that mean non-believers of the Christian faith can make it to heaven if they are good? If they follow the Ten commandments and keep God's laws? If they love their neighbours as themselves and they love God, who is also the God of the Muslims and Jews... If they do no wrong; don't steal, don't murder, and so on...

Thanks!

Did you not hear that the Prophets of old were direct from God?

So after they have done the work God sent them can they go to hell or whatever?

Have you not heard the parable of the King who sent his servants and his son and the people murdered them?

You Catholics need to read the Bible (KJV) for yourselves!

I don't believe in purgatory. The Bible says in HEBREW 9:27 "And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after face judgment."

Leave that one. It is the devil's selling point to Catholics just like the one he gave jws of saying no hell fire.

It is just a Catholics wish and like their evil jw brother, they are hanging on the twisting of scriptures to wit repentance which they call penance and Natural Justice of petty crimes do not carry death penalty. Lm

Which after the devil's manipulation has given them a very false hope. A hope that guarantees their death but unfortunately the Catholic loves this hope since he loves being evil, rather than walk in the Way of Life!

lol. Focus on the thread. Ignore the purgatory part, what of hell? You don't have anything tangible to say, just bringing down Catholics. Who concerns JWs with this? undecided

1. They were not heathens since they were righteous men of God -- all of them anointed by God Himself unlike your false teachers and false prophets of today. undecided

2. As scripture explains in many of the cases. --- not sure of Esther since she was not listed as a prophet--- they are all sleeping in their graves, awaiting the time of the resurrection promised to them by God. undecided

3. They are not in Heaven since even Heaven will only be open for admission after Jesus Christ returns and judges all those who are of His flock. In addition, the offer offer the Kingdom of God came from Jesus Christ and so as He told you back 2000 years ago, only those who are born-again can gain access to the Kingdom of God.. undecided

4. God of Israel is not the same God as that worshipped by the Muslims. undecided

Also, following what the Old Law of Moses - the National Constitution of the Nation of Israel in the Land of Canaan -, will not get you to God's Heaven. Instead, as Jesus Christ told you, it is by obeying His own teachings and commandments, the Law in the Kingdom of God, that you can make it into His Heaven at the end of the day. undecided

I no sure say you normal. (No wonder the crazy question)

Everyone knows that a lecturer is not a student.

What proof do you have that their souls were saved?

Everyone knows that employees do not write qualifying exams which applicants are writing.

Banilla:

So an Atheist or a Muslim can make heaven?

Now I know you are not normal and you must just have come out from your bush hoyse. Everyone knows that atheists and Muslims hate God therefore they are going to hell.

Oh. So doesn't this mean we shouldn't discriminate? I mean, that means God isn't biased. He could anoint a righteous man or woman of a different religion and they would make heaven.

Also, the God Jews worship is the same Muslims worship. Different doctrines, different means of salvation, same God. Like, many roads leading to one destination. Isn't he the God if Ishmael and Isaac?

Still won't answer the question. Typical. It made more sense to wait years toll he sent Jesus to be killed for our sins? The prophets weren't Christians. Neither were the others we read about. So what happened to their souls?

1. What do you mean God isn't biased? undecided

2. God can't do that because He specified in His Old Law of Moses— the Constitution of the State of Israel in the Land of Canaan — that He would only anoint Israelites as prophets to send to His Israel, and that Law is the standard of righteousness in the Land. You see, God never gave men religion, instead, He gave them His Law with obedience as His mandate. So in essence, God does not care or respect your religion. It is His Law that matters. undecided

Now, Jesus Christ is God's New Covenant and Law— the Constitution by which all those who believe in Him are to live by — in the Kingdom of God. And Jesus Christ made it abundantly clear that He alone is the Prophet/Teacher/Master/Shepherd to all those who belong to Him. undecided

So, to answer your question regarding the Kingdom of God, as Jesus Christ stated in His Gospel unless a man is a born-again, He cannot enter into the Kingdom of God where Heaven is an abode. If you do not believe and obey Jesus Christ, you cannot enter into God's Heaven at the end of the day. undecided

3. Again, the God Jews worship, the God of Israel aka YHWH is His Name, is not the God that Muslims worship. His name alone makes that abundantly clear to anyone with eyes. undecided

4. With God, your many roads leading to one destination logic makes no sense. Why? Because His Laws specify exactly which road leads where and How. Again, God gave men Laws and mandated them to obey His Law in order to benefit from Him, but men formulated for themselves a religion with which they could wield power and control over their fellow men. God does not recognize your religions nor their many doctrines and traditions. His standard is His Law, and He will judge all those in His flock by His Law, not the religions of men. undecided

5. The God of Israel said He is the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Surely, you can see right there that the God of Israel is not the same God you speak of. undecided

2. No, they can't because as Jesus Christ detailed in His Gospel, only those who are born-again have a chance at the Kingdom of God which He, Jesus Christ, brought 2000 years ago. undecided

1. Jesus Christ explained to you in John 10 vs 14 - 18 that He voluntarily laid down His life and picked it back up too by His own authority. So, abandon all those nonsense doctrines that make His dying as though of men when He died as one with authority over Life itself. undecided

2. There is a context to everything in scripture and in order to understand scripture you have to be aware of the contextual hierarchy of that stated. God's Old Law of Moses — the National Constitution of the State of Israel in the Land of Canaan —, the context to which the Old Prophets you keep mentioning belonged, promised the people of Israel a forever in the Land of Canaan - Deuteronomy 30 vs 15 - 20. (There was no promise of the Kingdom of God(Heaven and Hell) and as such, it was not available to those people at all.) The standard of righteousness by which God justified His old Prophets was the Law of Moses and that standard ensures that they sleep in the grave until the time of the resurrection when He, God, raises the righteous back to LIfe from their graves. undecided

Again, is the baby born-again? I think I already explained that only those who are born-again can enter into the Kingdom of God which Heaven and Hell are both in - Matthew 25 vs 31 - 46. All those who will end up in either Heaven(eternal reward) or Hell(eternal damnation) are born again. Those who are not born-again cannot end up in either of those two places. undecided

For everyone else who is not born-again, the standard law is from dust you were made and to dust you shall return when you die - Genesis 3 vs 19 undecided

Jesus Christ did not come to offer the Kingdom of God to everybody — He made this truth known to all 2000 years ago. So, in order to understand the belief, rather than listen to the ignorant rants out there, it is best you read the book for yourself so you can ask better questions regarding the Law that is Jesus Christ, the Kingdom of God. undecided

For Catholics church it is not about money, remember they were a government so money was not an issue. Rather they wanted absolute control and authority.

And who is that person who is always seeking to take over the world? Satan!
