In 2010, I was sold 'Fufu' as Nokia E series phone.

I met the guy on the street, I checked the phone and everything was working perfectly. After bargaining, I gave him the money and return the phone for him to remove his Sim, that was went the Original Phone was exchanged with Fufu covered with casing.

I got inside the Bus going home before realizing it was Fufu I was given.

Dem chop me once 9yrs ago and since then I don wise up, it'll take a gun on my forehead for them to run me street again. So make I drop some OT for newbies.
1. Don't ever stop to discuss anything with anyone on the street, if they like let them follow you around like a puppy, don't reply them a word, enter a shop and make enquiry. This is because a shop owner is traceable while a street guy can vanish like smoke.

2. Any testing or checking must be done in a shop and in your presence. After the testing, let them give the phone to you before any negotiation or payment. Don't let anyone package your phone for you inside anywhere. Collect the packaging material and pack it yourself to avoid them swapping the good phone with fufu or a bad phone.

3. Zip your bag for the ladies, fly your shirt over your pockets for the guys.

I bought a tablet with an attachable keyboard from a guy in computer village in 2015, for 60k London used. It was the best price as I went round the market.

I went back in about 2 weeks to sell back because I felt no serious need for it. It was just always in my wardrobe. No faults, no scratches. After examining the system, the same guy offered me 20k. I felt like beating him.

He said he was offering me the best no one would. I left angrily, took it to different stores and the rest of them said 15k. Like they knew I was coming and had a meeting prior to my arrival.

Twice,as I was walking inside cv,2 guys were also walking at the opposite direction but one on my left and the other on my right. These guys have sighted the bulge in my left pocket that I had an android phone.
They pressed me and the other one on my left dipped his hands inside my pocket.Unlucky for them I held my pocket where my phone was.
As I walked a meter away I turned back and watched them smiling.

Once you start to talk they will start playing the tribalism card and act the victim. I don't think I can ever enter alaba or computer village again. The reason ppl go there is because they feel they can get it cheaper but end up getting scammed. Even my cousin was scammed on a phone racket last month, mine last year 40k on a TV racket, 6years ago on a phone racket. How many can I mention but I just laughed, it's like letting begger eat from you, wealth gained with lies doesn't last.

I will rather order online no matter how expensive.
Same here.

Took my phone for repairs, later I went back to collect my phone behold the guy told me my phone has been stolen. I was like what is this? Later he gave me another phone but wasn't as good as my own and my cousin who in computer village introduced me to the phone technician and my cousin said I should make peace if not I wanted my phone back. Those boys in that computer village are dare devil themselves

Another rule of computer village- Never allow your phone 'sleep' in computer village, especially when you have those guys with small tables working on your phone, or even the ones with 5 of them in a tiny shop.
If it can't be fixed that day, ol' boy no open the phone. If you don open am come dey tell me 'come collect am tommorow', Oga couple the phone give me jejely. I'll take it to Slot, Carlcare or Finebrothers straight for repair.

Another rule, never give them password of your phone or laptop, they can copy sensitive documents and use it to blackmail or scam you. Computer village is full of unethical riff-raffs.

no bad experence in fact i scammed them there grin grin
but of course am aware of the laws of karma so i made sure that it was not fully a scam. what do i mean ? called the guy up for an inverter five hundred watts. we agreed on 13000 naira however the price on the internet on his advertisement on jiji was 10000 naira but he told me that advert was done years ago and that is old price. anyway when i got there he wasnt there but his wfe was there and she asked me what price did we agree ? i said i cant remember but on jiji it said 10,000 but that the boss said its old price and then said i thnk it was 12000 he said. and she said ok pay. so i gave her 12000 and made sure she was ok wth the 12000. she said yes . and i bounced

ii figured the guy was trying to scam me cuz his jiji said 10,000. so i gave him 2000 above hs jiji price and 1000 below what he verbally asked for on the phone

Then he actually scammed you. The real price was 10k, he would have changed it on Jiji if it wasn't. If you had pressed on, he would have called you back to buy.

I bought a canoe soap that year in place of Nokia phone for 7k and 20 naira for testing. After testing phone, the thief said he would need to wrap it in a handkerchief cos he claimed police might disturb me being a used phone. The novice me allowed him. Till today, I am not sure if he actually swapped the phone with the soap or he used juju to change it to soap. Nearly ran mad at Computer village that year, sometimes around 2007. Shine ya eyes when in Ikeja.

Honesty is not just not rewarded in this country, it is almost a crime. I'm a living, breathing proof. I have zero sympathy for anyone duped in this country because in the final analysis they have in their own way contributed to the culture. Even in my small nairaland footprint it's easy to see how they've SAVAGED me. This country is the result of our individual preferences

Funny thing be say wey dem do you finish and you realize your body go come calm…

I forgot one that happened in mushin. That one they picked pocketed the brand new phone I just bought. I hadn’t even put sim inside or used it.

When I got home that day I just went to bed straight to sleep. I did not even tell anyone what happened until after about two weeks when someone asked were the new phone I bought was. I just laughed to cover up because I know they will yab me. With all the sharpness and awareness I Dey claim.

The other one that happened in Kumasi too na so I just Dey smile like sheep cause some Ghana guys come gather Dey ask me say me wey be Nigerian na dem come run street for Ghana. All those kinda talk… but truth was I never even knew such existed in Ghana so I let my guard down. Those guys swap phone for me and I felt more embarrassed as a Nigerian.

Omo they run me street today o
Been seeing stuffs online but didn't know it would happen to me

So I went to ikeja today with my iphone7+ 128g,I fixed the IC or what do they call it recently ,when I went to collect it was told the flex is faulty too ,me being tired of the spending told the guy if I could just swap it with 6+64g without fixing the screen
He said yes but he doesn't have 6+ at hand I would have to wait
So I just thought since I was at computer village o,if I enter street will be able to go home with 6+ today
That's how I entered different places ,they were telling me 30k shocked
Phone that I bought 130k

Later saw a guy that said he would buy it,but we would have to go to where they are selling screen ,he will test that screen is the problem
So we got there, they said screen is 10k,he fixed the screen ,not fully tho
And he on the phone abd checked everything only to start telling me rubbish again that he will pay for the screen and pay me 30k
How is that different from all the others
I told him I was not selling again ,that I will fix my screen
So while I was trying to do transfer to the screen guy
Na so this guy carry my old screen go o,with my touch I'd, all the stuff they are meant to use to fix the new screen, even my nuts

Now I have a new screen, with nothing to fix it
I went back to my old guy ,he said now I have to add 20k to my phone before i can get 6s32g
He said touch id is created for each phone that others don't work for it ,that even him would have to really search
My front speaker too won't work
And there is also a pan that's missing

Anyway I regret not waiting I swear
People where saying I should go fight him, make person go shook me bottle
Na you Bleep up oooo.....That's why I created a thread about how to avoid being cheated by a computer village seller

see it here----------->>>>>>>>https://www.nairaland.com/7330834
