So, earlier today, I got an email notification that mine has been shipped. But checks on the DHL website shows it was originally shipped out on the 18th, however it seems you only get the Shipped notification once it leaves USA for the destination county.

Yes ooo, My equipment got shipped out today

How many days from the day you guys paid to the day it shipped?
Re: Starlink Is Officially In Nigeria With Pricing In Naira by confluence: 2:05pm On Feb 24, 2023

My Starlink arrived today but couldn't use it. It refuses to connect. Showing Offline. The error message is
"Unexpected Location
Please use your Starlink at its registered address"

Am using it at my shipping address. How can I get help please?

aieromon:

What location did you submit as the service address? That location will determine the radius of reception. Anything outside that radius and you will have to pay a portability fee.

I think there is an option to change your service address somewhere in the starlink app. So like if you are moving or changing location, you can delete the old one and update with the new. Not 100% certain though

Mine took 11 days before I got the shipped notification. I suspect they had stock in Lagos earlier in the month, that's why those who ordered very early in the month received theirs in record time. But have since ran out of stock in Nigeria. They now ship from the US.

I am yet to receive mine though. Check shows it got to Abuja earlier today. If it's not delivered today, I guess I will have to wait till next week, given that tomorrow is the general elections.

The Ethernet adapter now costs $57. Was that the price at the time you bought it?
Re: Starlink Is Officially In Nigeria With Pricing In Naira by confluence: 3:30pm On Feb 24, 2023
Paid $57, the time I wanted to buy before was $25, then the router has not arrived.

Exactly. I remember it was $25 a few days back, I was surprised when I checked and saw $57. That's more than 100% increase.

Starlink is officially in Nigeria, with pricing in Naira.

Hardware costs: NGN268,584

Monthly subscription costs: NGN19,260.00

This is great.

This is mad cool.

The thing pained me oo. Even on eBay I have seen some sellers selling for 45$, but then shipping cost again.

This is nice.

My quote in the linked thread refers:

If they're pricing in naira at official rates then although the setup fee is more expensive than contemporary fiber offerings (ipnx, fiberone, et al.), the value is in reliability and cheaper internet.

The speedtest screenshot above suggests >200mbps for ~₦19k which the competitors do not offer.
Fiberone and Ipnx both max out at 152Mbps and 150Mbps for ₦66,750 and ₦62,350 respectively.

It is worthy to note that Ipnx offers Gigabit internet (1000mbps) under its FOS Xtreme plans (FOS extreme 1000) but that would set you back ₦268,750 monthly, which is basically the one-time cost of the Starlink hardware.

If Starlink can prove its mettle by offering consistently fast internet (per Elon Musk, planned speed is 10gbps) at these relatively low prices, and resilience in bad weather conditions then it is poised to take over the market.

A death knell for traditional fiber offerings would be if Starlink offered a way to pay for the hardware costs in installments from your monthly subscription fee.
Insightful.

This is serious.

Guys, what worked for me was Klasha.

In fact, on the day I wanted to pay for Starlink using Klasha, i thought I would first try to fund with $5, to see if it works, before going ahead with the full amount. After funding with $5, I made an attempt to purchase Starlink, otp was sent, but I cancelled the transaction. I believe I repeated that like twice. Little did I know that the payment gateway had flagged my card because of the repeated cancellation of the transaction.

So, after funding the card with $588, I tried to make the payment, but I kept getting declined prompt, it wasn't even leading to the part where OTP is sent to you anymore.

It was on a Saturday morning, so I thought I wouldn't get much help from Klasha support. However, I went ahead and sent them a mail. I was surprised when they replied within two hours and said they would look into it. About 2 to 3 hours later, I got mails from two different members of Klasha support informing me that the issue has been resolved. So I went ahead make the payment without any hitch.

So the payment gateway klasha is reliable?

Did you do the swap?

Transferring naira only tops up your account. You still have to convert the money to dollar inside the app

How true is this for those who have used inside rain?

https://nairametrics.com/2023/03/07/starlink-users-in-nigeria-lament-poor-connectivity-whenever-it-rains/

It is to be expected. Anything wey DSTV dey do, just expect Starlink to behave the same way. It is based off the same technology (satellite). What is left to understand is if there are any solutions that low orbit satellites can offer to mitigate this experience.

This highlights one of the reasons this service isn’t to ultimate broadband solution for Nigeria. I think however, that it’ll drive competition in the right direction though.

Good morning. I used Klasha virtual Visa card to order. Others have used Payday. Starlink itself recommends the use of Payday. Download it from your device's app store.

Can’t say about the band. Just the technology in principle. I expect it would improve as they launch more satellites.

If you have up to the required amount, which is $587.93, loaded on the card, then maybe it's a downtime on Payday's side. You may try again after a few hours.
