Who Will Succeed HIMARS In The Ukrainian Military? by Emma15678: 7:19pm On Feb 05, 2023
The High Mobility Artillery Rocket System supplied to ukraine by the US at late July was termed a game changer in the war. Dozens of ammunition depots were blown up by the system. Ukrainian and American experts made claims that it could not be shot down by Russian Air defenses; however as time went the Russians started adapting to the system. How Russia adapted to HIMARS:
1. Moving her critical Military sites out of the range of the system. HIMARS has a range of 70-80km and it isn't a big task moving critical sites 80-90km away from the Frontline. This gave Russia time to upgrade her air defenses.
2. Shortening the supply lines.
Stupid as it may sound, in wars it makes sense to take strategic decisions that will affect the outcome of the war instead of a battle of a few hundred square kilometers. Ukraine used HIMARS to attack Russian supply lines in the Kherson region at a pace Russia couldn't suddenly adapt to. Russia pulled back from Kherson in November, shortening the supply lines and saving the lives of thousands of Russian soldiers at the risk of capture. It was a propaganda win for ukraine as during her attempts to retake the city by force her causalities were 6Γ— that of the defending Russians but a strategic win for Moscow.
3. Upgrading her air defenses
Call it propaganda if you like it, but the truth is that Russia has modified her Pantsirβ€”S1 ADS to shoot down HIMARS rockets. It's cheap because it occasionally uses missiles instead it uses anti-aircraft guns. A proof of this modification is the retreat of Russians from Kherson. During the retreat, the AFU launched at least 25 HIMARS rockets at the Russians retreating on pontoons and the Antonovosky bridge. All the missile was neutralized, Five were deflected by Russian EW and GPS spoofing systems while more than 20 were shot down, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense. We don't know how much of this true but the fact that HIMARS couldn't halt the retreat of 25000 Russian on a BRIDGE, is not a good name for the Wunderwaffe system.
4. Combined defense
Russia now uses a union of ADS and Electronic warfare system to defend her Military sites. This method has proven effective.
5. Destruction of HIMAR systems and rockets.
This principle has partially worked, some launchers were destroyed while most remain intact, the use of loitering munitions has reduced Kyiv's ability to use the system at will.
So now HIMARS is not as effective as before and has followed the trajectory of the Bayraktars, which system would replace it. Meet the Ground launched Small Diameter Bomb(GLSDB)
Specifications of the GLSDB:
Speed: Not clear but the from the speed of the GBU-39 Small Diameter Bomb from which the GLSDB is developed, it has a speed of 48km/hr β€” 80km/hr
Guidance system: GPS supported by INS
Decoy system: 0
Operational Range: 150km
Launch platform: M270 and M142 HIMARS
Engine: M26 Rocket motor
Accuracy: 1m CEP
Analysis πŸ“ŒπŸ“Œ
1. The GLSDB will give ukraine the ability to strike deep behind Russian lines, strikes in Crimea are not out of the board.
2. The system is slower that the HIMARS M31 rockets, its more vulnerable to Russian Air defenses.
3. It would enter service with the ukrainian army in the next 9 months so, there's low possibility of shifting the balance of the war for now.
4. It follows a cruise trajectory unlike HIMARS hence increasing it's vulnerability to Buk and PANTSIR systems which are all over the battlefield.
Conclusions πŸ“ŒπŸ“Œ
The GLSDB is a formidable foe to Russia ADS, it would not change the course of the war or save Kyiv from her inevitable Military predicament just like HIMARS and Bayraktar. Despite suffering very heavy losses on Western papers, the Russian army is preparing for a massive offensive this December. They will use paper planes for air support because ukraine has shot down ALL her Airforce. They will use rubber tanks for tank support because Javelins destroyed all their tanks. πŸ‘ˆπŸ‘ˆ Is what Westerners think because that's what they expect. In reality we may see the T-14 Armata in combat this year!

🀣🀣🀣 Well the strike was due to the disobedience the troops exhibited, they used phones. HIMARS doesn't have any ability to tilt the balance of the war again, that's what I meant not that it's useless. Like a WW1 cannon is obsolete right? So why not stand in front of it barrel when the system ignited. Anything pro-russian is propaganda but anything pro-Ukraine is true. That's how ukraine claimed to shoot down 24 Su-35 and you guys were/are parroting the claim despite the fact that there's only proof for 1 crashed Su-35. Make una dey use ya brain.

Ukraine is overhyping leopard, something that was built on the structure of T-80😎. That thing will lose to any T-90 but T-90s are scarce at the front. I heard Russia is planning to deploy Marker UGVs, Kornets, a few Armatas and more T-90s to counter the new threat. Again, it will not save ukraine from her impending Military predicament.

Wait, did you just say Biden approved atacms? You are joking to say the least. Even BBC and CNN won't engage in this magnitude of misinformation
