Alright, our fingers are crossed and we are waiting
Parachoko:
The Supreme Court will decide if they are acting out of jurisdiction or within jurisdiction on Feb 15

But I doubt a judgement will be giving on that day.

Understand that as long as CBN is still Nigeria Apex bank the decision of the Supreme court STANDS. The old naira notes remain LEGAL TENDER till February 15th when the Apex court will decide on the matter.

Thank you Bros, most of them cannot read between the line.

I do not know why CBn cannot extend the deadline to after the election? Why is everything so hard in Nigeria and unnecessarily?

If they extend it till after election then the aim of curbing vote buying will be defeated as politicians will still use the old notes to buy votes

You still don't understand.
Read below.

However, a senior lawyer, Professor Konyinsola Ajayi, yesterday, said the CBN was free to carry on with the cash swap policy, despite the court ruling. He stated that the CBN, not being a party before the Supreme Court, hence the court was not expected to grant an order against a person not before it; not sued or not heard.

He said, “The CBN is free to carry on with its policy on currency redesign taken in accordance with the plenitude of its powers under both the CBN Act and Currency Control Act. It is fitting to note that just about six weeks ago (on 02/12/22) the SCN held in the case of Adedeji & ors. v CBN that CBN is independent by law and can’t be controlled by FGN.”

Keep using your old and new notes till court hearing on the 15th February. We Nigerians should stick more to our local radio stations for quality info. All these "agbo and beer" parlour gist wouldn't take you anywhere.

Don't take any notes to banks for now to avoid your continuous suffering. This is what smartness means but Nigerian definition of smartness means to cheat, defraud and beat a working system.

Imagine I will use my hand to go and deposit again the money I suffered heavily to withdraw at an Exorbitant Charges Fee Through POS.

The money we were supposed to withdraw seamlessly but Instead they diverted It to their Cronies and POS Outlets.

Afterall, The Supreme Court will then ruled that the deadline has been extended by six months.

Then one will need to rush back to the POS people again abi😂

The guy did not answer the question. Your item 3 is to push the old notes to the ignorant Garri, Yam and pepper sellers. If the people selling the food items lives at Nteje village, they have to come to Onitsha to bank the money . Will they be given new note at Onitsha Bank?

I know, if Emefiele were to be a Yoruba, he would have been removed. Buhari would have used him as a scapegoat to save himself.

FG is not CBN and CBN is not FG. The Supreme Court order was directed at FG, not CBN which is an independent body, not answerable to FG on it's policies.
Some of you just like wahala. You know the country you live in yet still don't understand how things go. Since FG has obeyed Supreme court verdict. FG via Buhari will just give Emiefele a call to obey the judgement. It is as simple as that. So all this Grammar you are trying to blow about who obeys who doesn't matter in a country like Nigeria. Or you believe CBN will not obey any instructions Buhari gives to them?

Please go and deposit them in your bank. The daft governors that took the matter to the supreme court forgot to add CBN in the suit. So they are not bind by any court order.

Re: Naira Note Deadline by Fiyin007: 9:18am On Feb 10, 2023
If FG says its going to obey Supreme court order that means the old notes remain legal tender pending the determination of the suit by the supreme Court on 15th February. Just note that there's fewer old notes in circulation and CBN is not under any directive to release the old notes back into circulation. The only way forwards for CBN now is printing more new notes and enforcing bank compliance to release to the public.

Better go and deposit it at the bank tomorrow...... don't believe NL political jobbers.

If CBN wanted to extend the deadline....they would av released a statement publicly.

Modified: I just went to UBA to deposit.....I asked them if they were going to collect old notes on Monday.....they said it's until CBN gives them the order the collect old notes......if not the deadline is today. I asked them when to they will close....they said 3pm.

It's better to av 3k cash in 50 denomination than 1k denomination in old notes. At least market women won't reject ₦50 denomination no matter what.

There papa nothing they happen .. we must spend d money until infinity ...
