The CBN and the FG do not have a choice but to respect the order

CBN is has no mandate to obey any order from Supreme Court judgement that didn't concern them. The case is between FG and State govt. Did you in where see or hear the state government mention CBN in the case as party sued.

Forget all this your garbage explanation.

The Supreme Court Judgement is final, the old and new notes remain legal tenders till Feb 15.

Be deceiving yourself! Living in self denial... People are now rejecting it and you are here talking rubbish. Supreme Court didn't mandate CBN to recognise old note after 10 Feb... CBN is not even mentioned in the case because it's between state government and FG. I don't know how you want Adamu to act in a case between Essen and Akpan

I Buy old notes. 5k for 100k. 20k for 300k. una no dey learn lesson. Go and deposit your old note and eat grass. when you deposit, you will queue in line from morning till evening and AccessBank will give you 5k. Minus your transport inside the 5k how much remain. ? this is investment. investment is risky. but it's worth trying.
FOR YOUR OWN GOOD KEEP YOUR OLD NOTES. IF IT BECOMES DIFFICULT TAKE IT TO THE CBN WEY DEY YOUR STATE AFTER THE DEADLINE IF NOBODY COLLECT AM FROM YOU. commercial banks will not collect the money after the given deadline but CBN will collect the old notes when you come to their branch in every state. read the paper well, na wetin e talk.

It's best you go to the bank to deposit it abi you wan turn am to artefact wey you wan show your grandchildren? Or you can use the money to stock food items at home if you cant make your way to the bank.

Supreme court won't collect old note from you las las.

Please, have the banks been opening in your area? Many banks (Lagos &Ogun) have refused to open their gates for people to go in for any transaction whatsoever for about 2 weeks now and there is supposed to be a so-called deadline.

Better go and deposit it at the bank tomorrow...... don't believe NL political jobbers.

If CBN wanted to extend the deadline....they would av released a statement publicly.

Modified: I just went to UBA to deposit.....I asked them if they were going to collect old notes on Monday.....they said it's until CBN gives them the order the collect old notes......if not the deadline is today. I asked them when to they will close....they said 3pm.

It's better to av 3k cash in 50 denomination than 1k denomination in old notes. At least market women won't reject ₦50 denomination no matter what.
if you read the CBN extension statement,it reads: The commercial banks will stop collecting the old notes as from Feb 11 but, the CBN will continue to exchange the old notes for the new ones after the expiration of the extension, this means people living in the state capital where there are CBN branches can still go to the CBN to exchange the old notes.

in Kaduna, people are even been arrested for not collecting old naira notes ds money...it's still heavily acceptable in Kaduna as I speak....
CBN has no choice than to extend the expiration date for old notes..
if you have old notes, keep it well, otherwise you will cry heavily to have even the old notes, remember it's weekend and deres no any new note available even at the bnk

The governors did not include the cbn in the application. Because if they put it, they will strike it out immediately, why?, because the supreme court has no jurisdiction over the CBN and poilcy formulation of the FG. Read below.

However, a senior lawyer, Professor Konyinsola Ajayi, yesterday, said the CBN was free to carry on with the cash swap policy, despite the court ruling. He stated that the CBN, not being a party before the Supreme Court, hence the court was not expected to grant an order against a person not before it; not sued or not heard.

He said, “The CBN is free to carry on with its policy on currency redesign taken in accordance with the plenitude of its powers under both the CBN Act and Currency Control Act. It is fitting to note that just about six weeks ago (on 02/12/22) the SCN held in the case of Adedeji & ors. v CBN that CBN is independent by law and can’t be controlled by FGN.”

The guy did not answer the question. Your item 3 is to push the old notes to the ignorant Garri, Yam and pepper sellers. If the people selling the food items lives at Nteje village, they have to come to Onitsha to bank the money . Will they be given new note at Onitsha Bank?

I know, if Emefiele were to be a Yoruba, he would have been removed. Buhari would have used him as a scapegoat to save himself.

I don't know weda u are interested in getting the answer to ur question or u want to talk about who the president is and who the CBN Governor is.
If you use the old naira to buy something from Nteje Market and the person you are paying is willing to collect the old note, why will u be bothered how he/she will change it to new one?
May be, you don't even have any money you wished to change.

This is an answer. Thank you.

Its ADVICE that you need not ANSWER. If you need answer, go to FG, CBN and Supreme court website and enjoy the confusion there.

God bless you. I have stopped arguing with people concerning the CBN order. We need to educate the masses on the rule of law and the Nigerian constitution. 99% of Nigerians have zero idea of what the constitution is all about. Its a shame.

CBN is actually not the way people see it, I came to know this when I was still a banker, back then and even up till now, members of the public are allowed to go and get new notes every Thursday and a cashier was designated for that purpose and for badly mutilated notes rejected by commercial banks, you can go there every Tuesday to exchange it, though a cheque Will be issued in exchange for the value of the money you bring

The question should be are banks complying? I think what every well meaning Nigerians should be agitating for now is the availability of the new notes. Because the longer they shift it's implementation the scarcer it become. What do you think?
