Love is not wanting more from someone than they already give you. People fall in love for physiological reasons that have little to do with love itself; their brains release a combination of chemicals which trick them into believing that their new companion is the best thing after sliced bread. This is the "love" that we see in romantic movies: a boy meets a girl, a girl meets a boy, they fall in love, they work through a stupid miscommunication, everything is OK for two weeks, and then THE END.


That's not love; love is much quieter. Love is a reflective emotion. If there is an obvious incompatibility, love knows that once the initial rush of emotions subsides, love must release the other person out of compassion. It neither attaches nor binds. Nothing is more desirable to love than being with the one they adore. It doesn't pursue the acquisition of any tangible or intangible assets and has no agenda or fixed intentions to go someplace in particular. The price of love is not very high. It shouldn't, at the very least. It travels quite lightly. Love, however, is a moving force. Even when the scenery isn't that appealing, you and your companion can simply stroll along and take it all in.
