Science has continued to break frontiers unheard of before. Like making people with amputated limbs have some life etc
The latest is curing HIV cases.
No its not your regular fake church testimony sessions. This is real.

5th person confirmed to be cured of HIV
The Dusseldorf patient is latest to be rid of HIV with no signs of return.
Referred to as "the Dusseldorf patient" to protect his privacy, researchers said he is the fifth confirmed case of an HIV cure. Although the details of his successful treatment were first announced at a conference in 2019, researchers could not confirm he had been officially cured at that time.
Today, researchers announced the Dusseldorf patient still has no detectable virus in his body, even after stopping his HIV medication four years ago.
"It’s really cure, and not just, you know, long term remission," said Dr. Bjorn-Erik Ole Jensen, who presented details of the case in a new publication in "Nature Medicine."

"This obviously positive symbol makes hope, but there's a lot of work to do," Jensen said

Recent Stories from ABC News
For most people, HIV is a lifelong infection, and the virus is never fully eradicated. Thanks to modern medication, people with HIV can live long and healthy lives.

The Dusseldorf patient joins a small group of people who have been cured under extreme circumstances after a stem cell transplant, typically only performed in cancer patients who don’t have any other options. A stem cell transplant is a high-risk procedure that effectively replaces a person's immune system. The primary goal is to cure someone's cancer, but the procedure has also led to an HIV cure in a handful of cases.

With about 38.4 million people globally living with HIV, treatments have come a long way. Modern medication can keep the virus at bay, and studies looking into preventing HIV infection with a vaccine are also underway.

The first person with HIV cure was Timothy Ray Brown. Researchers published his case as the Berlin patient in 2009. That was followed by the London patient published in 2019. Most recently, The City of Hope and New York patients were published in 2022.

“I think we can get a lot of insights from this patient and from these similar cases of HIV cure," Jensen said. "These insights give us some hints where we could go to make the strategy safer."

All four of these patients had undergone stem cell transplants for their blood cancer treatment. Their donors also had the same HIV-resistant mutation that deletes a protein called CCR5, which HIV normally uses to enter the cell. Only 1% of the total population carries this genetic mutation that makes them resistant to HIV.

“When you hear about these HIV cure, it’s obviously, you know, incredible, given how challenging it’s been. But, it still remains the exception to the rule," said Dr. Todd Ellerin, director of infectious disease at South Shore Health.

The stem cell transplantation is a complicated procedure that comes with many risks, and it is too risky to offer it as a cure for everyone with HIV.

However, scientists are hopeful. Each time they cure a new patient, they gain valuable research insights that help them understand what it would take to find a cure for everyone.

“It is obviously a step forward in advancing the science and having us sort of understanding, in some ways, what it takes to cure HIV," Ellerin said.

Wow, if what I heard that viruses don't get cured is true then this is a total paradigm shift. In any case I salute those tireless researchers on the forefront of these kinds of breakthroughs and the ones involved in this in particular. I hope I live long enough to see more of these incurable diseases getting trounced.

And another set of incurable diseases with new sets of hard to pronounce names or even variation of old diseases still rolling out in their place. And aluta continua!

And nothing new in the end and medicine/ science never really catching up but always playing catch me if you can.

And God still unseeable and unassailable.

God cures all kinds of diseases. Science just means discovering things created by God. Without creations, there is no science.

Most viral diseases are actually self-limiting and are harmless. Even your Covid is self-limiting and would burn itself out in days. Only exception is people with immunocompromised states like diabetes, HIV, those on steroid use etc.
Few viruses are deadly and that is cos of their ability to mutate quickly to resistant forms. HIV is a prime example. With this breakthrough, it'll be a thing of the past. Plus there is HIV vax in the works. Mosquito vax is already shipping to many countries.
So soon stem cell therapies would be commercialized and even be available in Nigeria, maybe from next year

Medical science is always hindered by many microbes, both viral and otherwise. It has been there since time immemorial and won't stop even after we're gone. And they would become insusceptible to antiviral and antibacterial agents, thus newer anti-infective agents would be made to counter the newer forms of those viruses/bacteria/fungi/protozoa. Its a cycle that would continue. We used chloroquine to treat malaria years ago. Now due to abuse, the protozoa is resistant to it. Then we started Artemether combination therapies. Right now, there's now resistance. So now, to battle malaria, we use all types of drug cocktails.

What is the import of the bolded sentence on this discourse?

1. Another random wild claim from you. It has become your trademark, so I wont bother asking you for evidence or data. I have been in practice many years, yet your god has refused to cure any disease I have managed.
2. And I won't bother asking you about the source of creations

Here you are my friend. I made an explanation on the Bible you never replied on our last discussion.

However, Faith in science and or God is personal. If God fail others, He hasn't failed my.
Years back my wife was diagnosed of psoriasis, when we went to internet, they said the chance of getting her skin back was very slim with so much money. We turned to God. He healed her. My daughter had a decaying bone about ten years ago. The doctor that was to conduct operation on her to plant antibiotics in the bones that I refused, is her lecturer today.

You have absolute faith in science, beautiful; I have proven God also.

Like the other discussion, I still don't see how science has or will replace God or superior to God. The miracles claimed by the church are far more superior to the science's

I have experienced and heard and seen some for myself.

I have seen legs grow: one shorter than the other before. SS turn AA, conception without womb etc.

I think the dedication to science by scientists is more than the adherents of Christianity. Inability to give it what it takes to prove God.

I can be sceptical about others testimonies, I can't deny my own.

God healed your wife of psoriasis but he abandoned many faithful Christians to die of cancer.

He healed your daughter of rotten bones but could not save T.B Joshua, Pastor Adeboye's son, the Rev Father who died in a sleep.

You are happy he healed your family but refused to heal many children who die of malaria weekly then you must be very wicked.
You are just as wicked as your imaginary "god's" character.

I guess you must be very special. You and your family were made of gold instead of sand(same as you guys always talk it)

By the way, people who have never heard of any god in their lives also experience healings that can't be explained by science yet.

I've got a childhood friend in South Korea. When she last came to Nigeria, she told me about 80% of their population over there do not pray to any god.

She said most of them have probably not even said the word "god" in 20 years.

Yet she told me most of them over there beats cancer, and may other sickness without medical attention, without prayers.

You see, that's why it's good to travel. You can't beat the level of exposure.

You can read about US all your life , but you can't beat the knowledge of someone who stays there and drinks from there.

You don't need to travel far these days to interact with happenings in the world. What of if you are the one who is myopic?

In oriental countries, all manners of sicknesses are healed by their meditation. People pray to different gods for all manners of things.
The only thing is when people want to criticize, they only criticize the Christian God. While gods are many, science is one and globally coordinated.

Baba do not argue what you do not know.
Let's leave all over the word and meditation out of it.

I'm telling you that I have a friend who has been living in South Korea for many years and she told me "live" that many of them don't pray to any "god" at all.

She told me there are few churches , but even people who go to church believe that Jesus was stupid for dying because of somebody else's sins.

Many of the religious part of them are Buddhist.

The larger percentage of the population do not pray to any "god" or "meditation" shit at all.

So what is your point? Pastor Yonggi Cho is from South Korea a Buddist. He wrote this in is book Holy Spirit and was going to die of tuberculosis.
He claimed that people get healed someway in South Korea that what we call miracles kia not strange to them.
How did most of them become atheists? Was it always so?

I do not understand what you were trying to ask me, but lemme say this.

I'm giving you first hand information based on normal day to day life of what's going on in South Korea.
I've said it up there that the larger percentage of South Koreans do not pray to any god yet they still get healings that science cannot explain yet. Probably that was what you read from Late Rev. Yongi Cho's books.

So therefore, healing doesn't come from a particular god.

Healing is just like the rainbow, anybody can see it, but not everybody will see it.

If healing came from any particular god, then a particular religion will record more cases of supernatural healing more than the rests.

I still maintain that healing doesn't come from any god. People get healed in such a way that Science can't explain yet. Please do your homework.

Why not?

Everybody in the world can be stupid at the same time so, I can't be bothered.

There was some random guy who prophesied about Corona virus but, not a single soul believed in his prophesy because he was irreligious.

One person against the whole world. Yet he won!

There was a time the whole world believed "the earth is flat", innit?

There was a time the whole world believed that "the sun revolves the earth", innit?

There was a time many people believed that "Thunder is a anger signal from gods", innit?

Lemme ask you something, what happened to all those believes?

People outgrew their stupidity. However there are still some who hold unto those believes but guess what? Their believe do not change the fact that the earth is not flat, and that the sun does revolve the earth.

Do not worry, many people are beginning to outgrow faith. They are dumping their stupid ass religion.

You see! There can be majority in stupidity. Many people can be stupid together. In the US, there are several cases of mass suicide where many people come together and they commit suicide together.

Like I said up there. Billions of people may decide to be stupid, as long as it has nothing to do with me, I'm ait.

You don't need a god to prophecy. The physic people do with accuracy. Mitchell Nostradamus, Mummy Simpson, Edgar Cayce etc.

However, for you to say that that those who believe in God are stupid is the challenge.
Like I have always argue, I have not seen how science has taken place of a personal God.

I know a bít of science myself being a Masters Degree holder in a branch of engineering. These days I read much of astrophysics. While I appreciate the giant strides in that area and the works of of people like Stephen Hawkings, Carl Sagan, Professors Wheeler, Neil Degrasse Tyson. I know many of them seem not to believe in a god. But at the frontier of scientific knowledge is uncertainty. The latest pictures by James Webb telescope cast doubt on earlier beliefs especially of Big Bang Theory. We are not certain of the nature of atoms. Except for the evidences of science, how it has improved the quality of life of humans, one can also query the verity of scientific knowledge. Science has not solved all human problems. In the attempt, the solution to a problem creates another.
Can the same be said about about the inadequacies of knowledge of God? There are so many gods and many scriptures. Many gods of millennia ago are no longer in existence. Many superstitions are now debunked.

Yet, the Christian God has meandered his Acts through all all civilizations, knowledge, philosophies and has not been discarded but waxing stronger in the mind of people.

We are saying the same thing. In the same Korea,, people pray to God to get healed. South Korea once had the largest church and people are getting healed there. I agree that healing can have many sources, that science has eclipsed others even now is the problem.
There are people in Korea that don't by choice use other means including the meditation and hospitals but prayers only and get their answers. Science has never eclipsed knowledge of a personal God. It is all by choice and more by experience.

I will ask you just 2 questions.

MightySparrow:

Science has not solved all human problems . In the attempt, the solution to a problem creates another.

I agree to the emboldened, but science has tried. Perhaps Science is God.

Mention with irrefutable proofs the problems that the Christian God has solved in this current generation.

I don't like what you are doing, honestly.

Let's not talk about all civilisations now.
Let's talk about this our current civilisation, if truly you were knowledgeable in the science field and have followed the works of great minds.

Science discovered electricity, though it cannot be seen in the real sense but you can see it's manifestation, the results and the proof.
Whether you believe in electricity or not, all you need to do is to touch a naked wire with a high voltage with your barehand. Okay! Let's say this one is a lil bit too real.

What about the second law of thermodynamics, whether you believe in science or not, you'll see the proof before your own very eyes.

I do not believe in any God because there is no God. Yes! Science has not been able to solve all human problems, but Science has proven itself to be worthy. That's why I sit comfortably in an airplane and I even take a nap with all joy.

Science has given me irrefutable proofs. Now it's the turn of your God

Science is God.

Of course you know by my small level of education I know a bit of electricity and a bit more of thermodynamics. A little more of Mathematics and above all practical thinking because engineering does not work on theory but measurable quantities.

So being a Christian, I can only talk about Christianity and Christian God. Science has said we have evolved from apes and possibly develop to something higher. Christian God has told the first man and woman and how they came into being, where and when. It has a perfect record of genealogy to Jesus Christ and the family of Jesus (Jews) till date.

God waited till man developed the art of writing before Moses could record the beginning. He showed Himself to Enoch, Noah, Moses and many others not from Israel like Pharaoh, Darius, etc.
From Eden till now He makes sure that His people appear in Egypt the ruling civilization to Assyrian to Babylonian to Medo - Persian, to Greek to Roman empire. His people challenged the wisdom and knowledge of the times and subdued them.
In the field of science the Jews won Nobel prize more than any people group. Of 900 people that have received the prize about 200 are Jews.

In today's world, the leaders of science are from places affected by Christian faith. Greater percentage of authorities in Science, Economics, politics etc that challenged and changed the course of things are directly or indirectly affected by Christian ethics.

Everybody is challenging the leadership of the West but the countries are but and advanced baby Christian values.
You mention most scientists they have names from the Bible. Good percentage of them.

Ok bro. I been away for a week from Nairaland. Would check it later.
I usually don't believe online testimonies. They turn out to be lies, unfortunately. Hope you don't feel offended.
Psoriasis as I know is incurable but can be managed, like diabetes. This means you can mitigate the symptoms considerably. Lets assume your wife was healed? Are you saying she didn't take any drugs whatsoever? About your daughter, I guess she had osteomyelitis. Are you saying she didn't take any drugs?
You can claim any miracles. I can even claim I fly to work daily. Where the problem starts is providing evidences

I had this debate with 2 christians. One of them SirTee15 claims Yahweh healed a woman of stage 4 cervical cancer. I told him spontaneous remission of cancers happen in both Muslims, atheists etc. People who don't give a fvck about Yahweh, but he didn't believe me. Such ignorant christians amuse me

Is this playing?
What kind of playing is this?
@ Jaephoenix finally someone saw limbs regrow. 🤣🤣🤣

I don't even need to ask for a proof because I'm sure you won't be able to provide any.

But at least, we no get tribal marks for face na
I told him I have wings too. I mean good ol' angelic wings which I use to glide.
Telling christians to provide evidence is always a problem. I can't count the number of Christians who have boasted on this forum to me that they heal all manner of disease. Yet during evidence time, they get slippery. I told one of them I'll send some fibroid cases his way, he hasn't replied me grin

So meditation dey heal disease too? Hah! Na wao. Any evidence on that?
By the way what does the bolded mean?

So what is your point? Pastor Yonggi Cho is from South Korea a Buddist. He wrote this in is book Holy Spirit and was going to die of tuberculosis.
He claimed that people get healed someway in South Korea that what we call miracles kia not strange to them.
How did most of them become atheists? Was it always so?
Yonggi Cho is a Protestant who is a minority in SK. In 2022 Statistics , around 50 percent of the population in South Korea had no religion, while about 20 percent of the population followed Protestantism.
https://www.statista.com/statistics/996013/south-korea-population-distribution-by-religion/#:~:text=In%202022%2C%20around%2050%20percent,of%20the%20population%20followed%20Protestantism.

meaning they don't give a fvck about Yahweh or any god, and that is how they have been for ages. So that answers your question

You arguments I have experience and a witness. You think you can by logic convince me I no longer bear my name or have education? Same with my proof. There are more than a billion Christian devotees all over
the world. You are claiming to wiser than all in your own cocoon?
Remember there was a time christianity was non existent, and people practiced polytheism. Also there was a time christianity was a minority religion. Imagine a polytheist telling a Christian(then minority) this There are more than a billion polytheist devotees all over the world. You are claiming to wiser than all in your own cocoon? grin

As a physician, I can attest to that. Spontaneous regression or remission is a phenomenon scientists are researching daily. Various hypotheses abound

Pls do not mention me in any of your dishonest post....never again.
Where did I say spontaneous remission in cancer do not occur. You continue to twist your words to suit your deluded and confused narrative.
I even had to do a mention of posts where I mentioned spontaneous remission in cancer do happen and u had the guts to come here and lie in my name.
Don't ever try this again. Otherwise I will take it up with the mods and have u banned. This will be my last warning.

Funny. So the update now is that there are miracles, but it's not by God or not only by God? LoLz. Hope the OP, Reed and other jokers got the update also, at least it's some progress. LoLz
Re: What God Cannot Do by MaxInDHouse(m): 6:48am On May 09, 2023
This is why Jesus' true disciples (Jehovah's Witnesses) are coming to your doors with the message of God's Kingdom, God never promised to cure sicknesses among people of the nations {Matthew 15:24} so if anyone is expecting God to do that then such a person is deceiving himself.

What Jesus told us is that all manners of sicknesses will be totally eradicated in God's Kingdom (when God begins ruling the earth) until then mankind will continue to experience more and more illnesses claiming billions of life, this is as a result of ignoring lifesaving infos found in God's word. Luke 21:10-11 compare to Revelations 6:7-8

So instead of expecting miracles now that the one managing his or her sickness will eventually die sooner or later we are looking forward to God's Kingdom where no single inhabitant of this planet will say "i am sick" Isaiah 33:24 compare to Revelations 21:3-4

Good morning! smiley
