Seun:
Dear Igbo People,

I sincerely apologize for allowing a toxic political banner advert which said, "Lagos can never be run from Anambra; go and vote" to run on Nairaland for several hours on Wednesday, March 15, 2023.

The mischievously worded banner advert appears to have been part of an ethnically divisive political campaign aimed at securing Lagos State for the ruling party by instilling fear in Yoruba people, making them believe that Igbo people intended to "take over" Lagos State.

Such ethnically divisive political campaigns have no place in a forward-thinking democracy, and for this reason, the ad should have been taken down instantly. No harm was intended, but my lack of forethought about the ethics of that type of advert led to a disappointing outcome.

We should have had a clear policy against accepting negative and ethnically divisive ads on Nairaland, we should have communicated it to all advertisers, and we should have taken down any advert that violated that policy instantly. This will all be in place before the next election.

We made almost N16,000 from the ad. We will double it and donate it to victims of political violence in Lagos.

Please, do NOT give up on Nigeria. The times are challenging, but TOGETHER, we will overcome.

Sincerely,
Seun Osewa.

You gaslighted and insulted Buhari and the North for years, started with Tinubu and the Yorubas since the day Asiwaju declared his intentions to run for presidency now the SW rose up to defend their heritage and Land you are shouting "they hate us" we are only redirecting your cannon, arsenal and the ammunition you used against other people for years to your doorstep. He who cursed at the strike of the thunder must be ready to wrestle with Obakòso.

Your leaders and Influencer covertly used their silence to cheer you on and some of them even Openly gaslighted the fulanis but were mute against the Terrorist in their homeland, gringory said they are innocent youths with flags and not terrorist.

It's a wake up call to let you know that we the Yorubas are accomondating and a loving people who treat everyone equally But we are not cowards who will run from a battle or why do you think we have kingdoms and empires spreading to different continents and countries? Don't take the gentility and the Omoluabi in us for cowardice, YOU WON'T HAVE YOUR WAY WITH US. Ire ooo

Most of us understand how you feel.

But remember that the ball or Keke belongs to Seun. Yoruba have a duty not only to be fair to all but also, to seem fair. Seeming fair can be taken differently by different people. Especially, opportunists without any care.

Admission of quilt in order to move on is what they pounce on. Some people think it is wise to apologize to your wife or husband for a better future.

I am just reading this thread Seun and I have deep insights and brutally honest truth to share with you all here that will open your eyes to prevent being guilt-tripped by despicable bigots and ignorant analyses.

That NL ad did NOT contribute to any violence in Lagos State. The Edo no be Lagos mantra which was all over NL is no different from this.

Several very TOXIC, irresponsible LIES and inciting posts by well-known NL Ibo trolls stating that the iconic Obafemi Awolowo, GCFR, SAN, died via suicide in 1987 from drinking rat poison are FALSE... and further more, the inciting posts that Lagos State is a "no man's land" by some Ibos, the unguarded past history of anti-Yoruba Twitter posts and past Ipob/biafra sympathy by Gbadebo Vivour, etc, triggered the sequence of ethnically charged events in some locations in Lagos State.

Besides, what apologies have YOU
Seun given to over 50 million people of Yoruba descent for the many TOXIC, vicious and criminally inciting anti-Yoruba, doctored videos and fake news that have been posted here on NL threads by irredentist Ibos and Ipob trolls for many years now and during every election cycle since about 2010?

I have been a veteran member of
NL since 2005 with an older
NL account, and there is massive digital evidence of TOXIC online attacks and cyberbullying of
Yorubas (Including the relentless, organised false attacks on the now
President-Elect of Nigeria, Bola
Tinubu), Kanuris (Including the criminal fake news that Kashim Shetima of APC is a Boko Haram terrorist sponsor was widely spread mainly by the Peter Obi supporters of Ibo origin on and off NL, and the false accusation was debunked by The BBC Global Disinformation
Team Report), Northerners, Itsekiris, Ijaws, and other minority ethnicities over territorial claims, geopolitics, rejection of Ibo secession by ethnic minorities and more.

Those who over the years are responsible for initiating hate speech and ethnically-based cyberbullying on and off NL will be brought to justice in sting operations! WhatsApp group administrators, and other online platforms are liable for the criminal incitements and defamation of character of public figures and citizens under existing Nigerian Cyber Crime laws. Ignorance of the law is NOT an excuse. Period.

Chinua Achebe the erudite novelist tried to change the narrative of the January 15, 1966 Coup in his book There Was A Country to portray his ethnic group as the victim, but this has been debunked: “Igbo in the North were widely taunting their hosts on the loss of their leaders. Celestine Ukwu, a popular Igbo musician, released songs titled Ewu Ne Ba Akwa (Goats Are Crying) and others celebrating “Igbo power”, the “January Victory.” Posters, stickers, postcards, cartoons displaying the murdered Sardauna begging Major Nzeogwu at the gates of heaven or Balewa burning outright in pits of hell or Nzeogwu standing St. George-like on Sardauna, the defeated dragon, began to show up across Northern towns and cities. These provocations were so pervasive that they warranted the promulgation of Decree 44 of 1966 banning them”. Even Dr. Nnamdi Azikwe noted these atrocities in his The Origins of the Civil War: “Some Ibo elements, who were domiciled in Northern Nigeria taunted northerners by defaming their leaders through means of records or songs or pictures. They also published pamphlets and postcards, which displayed a peculiar representation of certain northerners, living or dead, in a manner likely to provoke disaffection.” These images and songs eventually led to the so-called pogroms/ethnic-cleansing/genocide, not the coup” as Achebe claimed. In fact, “the coup was in January, the pogroms started late in May and the provocations were in-between”

Nicely put @googi.

In an ideal world, apologies are an integral aspect of emotional intelligence. Knowing full well the narcissistic background and toxic victimhood propaganda those ethnic bigots have played for decades now, I would have preferred if Seun had not apologised because they would keep using it to blackmail him, and this is the 3rd time within 5 months that he is making apologies to them on Twitter and NL that are NOT appreciated by these guys.

Fortunately massive text and video
evidence abound that show that elements among the Ibos triggered the toxic incitements online which got worse with the advent of Ibo secessionist groups in the early 2000s.

Now I see videos flying around abusing Seun and Yoruba people. I am guessing, some years from now Seun will be accused of causing ethnic fight between Yoruba and Igbo in Lagos.

Because of Beta male like Seun, igbos will keep seeing Yoruba as weak people.

What is this slobbering apology for? You could have just taken it down, or be a man and leave it up running, given the kind of people igbos are and what they have done to Yoruba on nairaland alone.

Are you scared of the Igbos because your apology centres more on a reprisal claim by the Igbos. The strategy of not allowing people to vote their choice, suppression and disenfranchising began in the east during presidential election. While the igbos were busy rigging out Lagos as shown in some available videos. They were busy molesting and denying people their right to vote in their eastern states, once they are not voting LP. Is Lagos alone Nigeria, why are you aggravating the scenario is Lagos without referencing the fact that this strategy emanated from the Anambra, enugu, imo, abia and ebonyi. He who lived in a glass house should not throw a stone. On many occasions you rush to block people that speak against this bigot, leaving them to throw jabs, lies and propaganda just to incite innocent youth in south-west. I think you should come out and tell the whole naira landers you are ellupee too.

You have done well Seun. But just know you can never please the Igbos as a Yoruba man.

Since you released this needless apology, the attack on your person by Igbos has skyrocketed on every social media platform. Trying hard to please the Igbos will always expose you to a monumental danger as a Yoruba man because they immediately perceive you as weak and trust Igbos to always take advantage of that and still rob it on your face.
