Seun, bar that insensitive Advert, this forum is a shadow of itself. Ethnic and tribal bigots roam free without restriction. Hate filled contents are pushed to the front page consistently! I was on a thread on Twitter some days ago, someone advised a tribal bigot to take his hatred and bigotry to places like Nairaland. It's a shame! You've legit failed to keep a leash on this forum.

During the genocide in Rwanda, some radio stations kept adding fuel to the fire by inciting the populace and providing platforms for hate speeches to rule the day.

You have successfully created a platform that encourages hate speech and tribal bigotry. You're partially complicit in the ethnic war raging currently.

I dare say you should either hire some moderators solely focused on deleting hate filled posts or just step down entirely.

Seun:
Dear Igbo People,

I sincerely apologize for allowing a toxic political banner advert which said, "Lagos can never be run from Anambra; go and vote" to run on Nairaland for several hours on Wednesday, March 15, 2023.

The mischievously worded banner advert appears to have been part of an ethnically divisive political campaign aimed at securing Lagos State for the ruling party by instilling fear in Yoruba people, making them believe that Igbo people intended to "take over" Lagos State.

Such ethnically divisive political campaigns have no place in a forward-thinking democracy, and for this reason, the ad should have been taken down instantly. No harm was intended, but my lack of forethought about the ethics of that type of advert led to a disappointing outcome.

We should have had a clear policy against accepting negative and ethnically divisive ads on Nairaland, we should have communicated it to all advertisers, and we should have taken down any advert that violated that policy instantly. This will all be in place before the next election.

We made almost N16,000 from the ad. We will double it and donate it to victims of political violence in Lagos.

Please, do NOT give up on Nigeria. The times are challenging, but TOGETHER, we will overcome.

Sincerely,
Seun Osewa.

Funny thing is they will all forget how you were promoting LP contents and pushing it to the front page, they will forget that you anchored a question and answer session bringing GRV here to answer questions that he even did not answer because he has no answers to give.

They will forget all and you have already been tagged a tribal bigots by them.

I for one think you are business man and the platform is open to all parties. LP had their time and so did APC and anyone who recognized the reach that Nairaland could give.

If EDO NO BE LAGOS wasn't bad, I don't see anything bad in the advert.

This election is an eye opener. Obi's general acceptance rattled the Yorubas and in their envy, they unleashed their urchins on Igbos. Ndi Igbo know your enemies.

As an Igbo man, I now have it at heart that mojarity of the yorubas hate me for who I am

If as an Igbo man, you were not aware you were hated by Yorubas then you are not wise. I am Edo and I was born and grew up in Lagos. I relocated and left for Benin after graduating from Uni in 2008 because of these same reasons. In 1996, my father had the money to build a house at Ago, palace way Okota. He refused and instead built his house at his village in Uhumwonde Benin city. He kept making reference to how we ran away during 1993(Abiola run away). Then I thought he was foolish but I now know his decision was very wise. You can imagine me run away from where I was born because of the constant "Omo Ibo" victimization I got. Not to talk of you ...

Seun can you send me the 32k , I know how to share it

Once again you need to get your priorities right
You are just claiming political correctness or making jest, either way it is not needed.
That useless advert contributed to nothing, most people didn't even notice it self.

Rest.

Thank you.

Yep. This forum is his baby. His creation. It can never outgrow him. It can never become too much for him to manage. It just depends on how much money he’s willing to leave on the table when ethnic bigots and chronic misogynists don’t flock the forum anymore due to strict enforcement of anti-hate policies.

I know it’s truly not easy but it’s not impossible.

I know someone will hit the bullseye with their submission. this touches all the right notes. Pardon the quote, I did it for emphasis sake so the owner has another chance not to miss your home truths.

@Seun, the big questions are:

Are you really bothered enough about the promotion of ethnoreligious divisions on your forum?

Are you really ready to do what it takes to position this forum as a platform for civilize discuss?

And most importantly, are you willing to do whatever it takes? Especially after reading what this poster said above with emphasis on the bolded?

Needless to say, there's only one solution. BANS. Two weeks? Two months? Lifetime? You decide. As long as they are enforced with reckless abandon.

Because the platform is very heavily infested with division champions, you will start seeing a much saner and civil place in less than a month.

The tribal antagonists are quite many, but they are few compared to those they antagonize and provoke. GO FOR THOSE ONES FIRST!

You are joking, aren't you?

MC Oluomo maybe a tout but the curious silence of the so-called good Yorubas looks like a tacit approval of the activities of the social miscreants...

You might not believe it but most Nigerians now see all Yorubas as the same whether Christian or Muslim...

Your concerted efforts to divide and rule failed woefully! There is an agenda that sought to bring a toxic form of Christianity to Lagos. On this same NL, Northerners were dehumanized, then Yoruba Muslims, now all Yorubas. The moment Yorubas chose to vote Sanwo Olu in Lagos, all Yorubas transformed into “dirty, smelly touts and urchins” .

Your posts do not help Igbo people, better to just stop posting if you have nothing positive to say.

Period.
Putting up a rule that says everyone is responsible for what they post is not enough.

How are they going to be held accountable if they are deemed responsible for any loss or injury that occurs as a result of their post? I mean they’ve been granted anonymity have they not?

Imagine an innocent old man or woman in Lagos (Or wherever) going about their business unaware of the existence of nairaland but gets harmed because of the hate that’s allowed to run rampant here? How can one even connect the dots that the person who harmed them was an ethic bigot whose hate was fueled by other anonymous individuals on this forum?

I would have voted for Peter Obi & GRV, if I had a PVC and lived in Lagos State. Just to send a message to APC that they need to give us their best. I would not have been upset by GRV's loss because of his sparse CV. My vote for GRV would have been a protest vote against APC.
So you would have voted based on emotions not competence

Re: An Apology To The Igbo People Of Nigeria by cococandy(f): 11:45pm On Mar 20, 2023
The person who quoted didn’t say that
The girl whose post she was defending didn’t say that. So who told you that Lagos is no man’s land that’s getting you riled up?

Because literally all you and the lot like you are doing is telling yourselves something that no one actually said to you just in a bid to justify your deep seated hatred. I mean if you have an excuse to be a bigot then it’s not so bad right?

Nothing was cleared except the realization that there is more latent hate waiting to show itself than most people would have expected.

Okorietitus:

Saying Lagos is no man's land is standing tall, àbí?
Can an Ebonyi man call Anambra no man's land?
Can an Imo man go to Anambra and tell them he has a candidate for them that they should vote?
Currently, Nsukka and Nkanu people both in Enugu are fighting over this election.

Lagos is not no man's land. Your doubt has been cleared.
