The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved a National Language Policy for use in all primary schools across the country.

Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, made this known to State House correspondents at the end of the Council’s meeting which was presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday in Abuja.

He said: “A memo on national policy was approved by the council. So, Nigeria now has a National Language Policy and the details will be given later by the ministry.

“One of the highlights is that the government has agreed now that henceforth, instruction in primary schools; the first six years of learning will be in the mother tongue.”

Such principal deserves a monetary and public recognition!

Any parent who cannot abide should enroll his/her kids into British international school . That’s the foundation of English language!

Nigeria is a multilingual Country, you can't be speaking Yoruba to your students who are from different parts for the Country, it's stupidity, I know you know what is right but tribalism will not allow you to reason properly or stand for the truth. If people like you go Canada you go de complain of racism

If Nigeria can be like Europe where a German citizen speaks only German and a french citizen speaks French and also a Spanish citizen speaks only Spanish and Italian citizen speaks Italian they won't be any reason to complain tongue

Unfortunately, Nigeria is not like Europe, but if they want to, they should disintegrate the country by various languages so we can speak however we want to.

There's nothing like hausa man from kogi....Kogi has 3 main tribe namely igala, ebira, okun( yoruba) and some other tribes that r minorities

Even in okun part of kogi dey nw use yoruba's to teach there students

1) There are HAUSA's from KOGI STATE. Yes...there are.

I have friends who are HAUSA's and are Kogi.

So wake up.

I just want to clear that.

2) Comments here have shown that the Yoruba's in Nigeria are the MOST TRIBALISTIC SET OF PEOPLE IN NIGERIA

Even the Hausa do not like the Yoruba's? So what are we talking about?

3) It is very wrong for a so called principal who says he or she went to University to enter a Educational Environment and be speaking her indigenous language knowing fully well that the entire student body are not from her village?

If that is the case, they should put a big Sign board at the gate of the school saying "PLEASE....WE DO NOT ADMIT NON-INDEGINE'S".

To me the principal is tribalistic, a bigot and a archaic person who can't think becos he or she has been blinded by bigotry and should never be an Administrator!!!

Yet we complain that UK and USA forces us to sit for IELTS and TOEFL saying we are a English Speaking Country.

Now I know why these countries have refused to remove these exams for us despite our shouting becos it's people like you lots that make them still enforce these English exams on us.

You will tell me if it is in Yoruba you all sat to write all your WAEC/SSCE Exams.

Tribalism has blocked your heads.

They used tribalistism to divide your parents and controlled their lives.
They are doing same to you.
