Nobody will tell me that boy doesn't know why he was been taken to the UK. His greed overshadowed hom when he realised he was not a match and the 7k pounds wasn't coming again . He just messed up Ike's family and a lot of people that depending on them.

The 21 year old ill-informed trader was clearly a victim in this case.

The criminals used his socioeconomic situation (poverty) as a weapon.
Also took advantage of his ignorance by not educating him of the risks, potential complications/consequences of removing a kidney.

After being interviewed at the UK hospital and found not to be an appropriate donor, what do you think would have been his fate?

Pretty Sonia needed a Kidney transplant.

A 21 year old man was brought in from Lagos as the donor after matching kidneys were confirmed through a middle-man (a doctor who has been convicted with the Ekweremadus).

He was promised £7,000 pounds to sell his kidney.

At the hospital, the doctor in charge of the surgical operation interviewed the donor/victim.

One of the requirements for the surgery was that the donor can afford life-long medical care that comes with living with one kidney.

The donor/victim couldn't give assurances that he could afford life-long medical care and he wasn't briefed about the pros and cons of the process before he accepted to come to the UK.

The donor/victim walked into a police station and made a report.

Ekweremadu, his wife and the middle man doctor were arrested.

Under UK laws, organ donors are not to be paid for donating their organs. They are to do so voluntarily without charge.

The Modern Day Slavery Act enacted by parliament in 2015 was violated.

Ekweremadu, his wife and middle man doctor have been convicted.

They await sentencing which could be as severe has life imprisonment.

The donor/victim has been granted asylum because his safety in Nigeria cannot be guaranteed.

Pretty Sonia the sick girl has been discharged and acquitted by the court. She still hopes for a kidney donor.

The case is the first of its kind in the UK and the conviction is landmark achievement since the enactment of the Modern Day Slavery Act in 2015.

Ekweremadu messed up big time. I can understand a fathers desire to save his sick dying daughter, any of us would want to save our child

But as the Nigerian he is, he thought money can buy anything. What he should have done is throw out a worldwide appeal for a willing donor to come forward to help him save his daughter

But going to get one petty trader to do the same with a promise of £7000 was pushing it

I dont have much sympathy for the petty trader either. He knew what he was taken to the UK to do, nobody takes a petty trader to the UK with a promise of £7000 for no reason

When he was judged not to be a suitable donor, and no £7000 pounds was coming, he ran to the Police

I made similar comments here and I was badly insulted.It’s a sad event but that boy is not a good person.ekweremadu also messed up he wouldn’t have involved himself if he wanted to play safe.he would have allowed everything end with the doctor and the boy.besides doctors have a way of sourcing for that thg he should have just let doctors know his ready to pay any price to get it I’m sure they would have provided it for him.
