I wonder why all our National holidays have nothing to do with a celebration of our culture and tradition? Looking at the list of our holidays in Nigeria, it’s obvious all are borrowed from western practices and from foreign religions. None what so ever reflects a celebration of our culture.

Why are we so much into borrowing others practices?

Can’t we fashion our systems of practice based on our culture?

Why must we borrow all our practices?

It won't be a bad idea if we have a public holiday to celebrate our culture but Nigeria being a very complex nation with different cultures, it would be very difficult.
Except one day is singled out to celebrate our culture no matter where you're from, then almost everyday of the year would be a public holiday.

It all boils down to colo-mentality. It is reflected in our names, religions and exotic cultures.

They captured us as slaves, put us in plantations and named those plantations as countries after themselves.

They even called themselves Saints to be worshipped.

Now, we laundered whatever we make back to them. The first good money most Youths make, they ask which country abroad they can japa rather than starting a local business.
