The Kinds Of Records Christians Should Aspire For

It's quite sad to see the kind of competition that ensues among church leaders who ought to be an example to other Christians.

They are trying to outdo each other in laying up treasures for themselves on this earth despite the fact that Jesus taught us not to lay up our treasures on Earth but in heaven. Matthew 6:19-20.

Some were aspiring and doing all their possible best to break records set by their colleagues for these biggest church building in the world as if that would earn them some heavenly recognition, even though Jesus had used the magnificent Jewish temple which God Himself called His house as an illustration to His disciples how such buildings made with men's hands have little or no value in God's sight. Matthew 13-1-2

Jesus taught us it's the manner of gentiles and those of the world to strive to attain such earthly things which were temporal. Matthew 6:32

But those of God ought to strive to attain the things that have eternal value (Kingdom of God), such as, humility, honesty, righteousness, forgiveness, obedience, selflessness, patience, philanthropy, serving others. Matthew 16:24-26; 20:25-28.

The most valuable thing any man can ever have in this world is the presence of God, and Jesus said, "My Father has never left Me because I do always the things that please Him". Matthew 13:1-2

So to have that most valuable presence of God with us, we also need to do the things that please God as Jesus did.

And the things that please God were not of this world but those of His kingdom which is in heaven, so those are the things that ought to be the aspirations of Christians just as it was of Jesus and His apostles.

Even though they didn't have much money, they had the most valuable thing which is the presence of God.

Peter himself, the church leader at the time, said, "silver and gold i have none but such as i have i give to you", to show they knew fully well what they needed to have or or strive for wasn't earthly riches or the temporal things of this world, but that which had eternal value such as the presence of God. Acts 3:6

So even though they didn't have much money or build the biggest church buildings, God was with them just as He was with their Master Jesus, because they also strived to do the things that please God.

[b]God deserves the best of us, so let us instead strive for the things that would bring Him pleasure and glory, so He'd also be with us as much as He was with Jesus and the apostles here on earth.

Moreover when we're done with this temporal abode called Earth, there'd also be waiting for us in heaven the crown which no accolade on Earth could ever march.
