While NERC’s projected tariff for July 2023 was expected to remove subsidy and increase the previously frozen tariff band D and E, increasing the bands from N54.59/kilowatt to N62.16 for band D and N48.37/kilowatt to N61.16 on average with an average increase across the bands moving to N67/kilowatt, the prevailing floating of the naira and spike in inflation is projected to move the new average tariff to about N88/kilowatt for the sector to recover the cost.

Attached image is my light bill payment for the month of June. I was literally charged about N103/kilowatt. So the increments has already been implemented even before they broke the news.

Please read again. N103/kilowatt as against N88/kilowatt.

Divide N5000 by 48.41kwH which gives you N103 per kilowatt.

For the good of the the nation, let us endure.

All this new policies sounds great on the paper, but let appropriate measures be taken to ameliorate the suffering of the ordinary man .

This is one of the reasons why I was against removing subsidy without planning and consultations. But as usual am a wailer.

Remove the VAT before your division.

That is: 4,750. ÷ 48.43 and not 5,000 ÷ 48.43

Someone said,he would widen the tax net,u think he was joking.

Now,it is getting clearer and brighter for all the tribalists to understand. U can't be poor and be getting poorer at the same time. That would be a disaster.

Remember,he said he would increase the tax net and reduce the income receivable.

Abia.
But it is not about state, a state can have more than 4 different tariffs depending on the hours of electricity the area gets per day.
