SMH.
But the politicians and government officials are not bearing the pains.
You saw the convoy that escorted the president from mm2 to his home at Ikoyi. Service chiefs, top officials, small officials, all relocating with their aides, to Lagos to escort him home.
Those officials, do you know how many flight tickets, private jets would have been utilized? The petrol and diesel that would have been used in those multitude of high end vehicles? The army even did a military parade. Can you imagine the cost?
Fine, as you say, bear pain so the kids will enjoy tomorrow. Nice, but the gov has to also show sensitivity to citizens considering the suffering Nigerians are going through. The taxes cannot be seen to be used to fund extravagance.
What happened yesterday was not necessary considering the mood of the country.
Funny thing, I wondered where all those vehicles will park at bourdillion. How those officials will fit in his living room, abi may be he has an event center in his residence.

According to Winston Churchill

"For a nation to try to tax itself into prosperity is like a man standing in a bucket and trying to lift himself up by the handle.
However taxing the poor is the only thing Tinubu knows. He's trying to grow revenue even at the detriment of the lives of the people.

Nigerians like complaining about everything and they every government service for free why ? do you know here in Saudi Arabia we pay 60000 every 3 years for the same service .
How much is your minimum wage in Saudi. What is the Saudi gdp compared to that of Nigeria. Do you know a full tank of petrol in my car which takes me for 3-4 days is 48-50k after removal of subsidy, yet minimum wage officially in naija is 30k. How many people even earn that 30k.
Go on the street of Nigeria and see the vehicles driven (a way to see how an economy if fairing), all the vehicles are old bangers! Those driving benz think they are doing well, benz of 2010, 12, maybe 2015, most likely accidented imports.
Guy, Nigerians are going through alot now. I see people suffering, trekking from oshodi to iyana ipaja etc daily. Som e have parked their vehicles and only use them on Sundays.
You are lucky to be in Saudi, please never compare Nigerian to that country.
Na joke say Nigeria won the title of poverty capital of the world? Over 100m people introduced to poverty by buhari, in the past 1month, oga, likely another 80million has been added!

Yahoo boys dey learn work for where tinubu dey, greatest scam artist , everyday a new bill will come up, Nigerians are quite docile for my liking,if it were Egypt or those north African countries where the citizens have mad guts, the whole country will be too hot for the leaders.

Very docile set of people it's annoying. I was going to work this week, a driver used a bad taxi which was moving like a snail with many issues to pick us. I queried him on why he should put such bad vehicle on the road to do business, do you know no passenger protested. They all kept mute inside. Chai...I was angry. No wonder they have the leaders ruling them.

Are you minding them, What is N1,000 per year. Anybody that can afford to own anytype of car even kpangolo should be able to afford.

It’s no news that Nigeria needs revenue, there is so much to be down and Tinubu is working overtime on it.

I would not be surprised if PBAT decides to introduce toll gate in the entrance to every states in the future. High taxes on other goods and services may occur under his watch. May God deliver us all
Re: N1000 Vehicle Proof Of Ownership: Nigerians Reject Newly Imposed Levy by MasterTeeUSA: 5:55pm On Jun 28, 2023
There are so many reasons why this is good. It is like car registration

1. You cannot steal a vehicle and go for Proof of Ownership. If the car has been declared wanted, you are going to be in big trouble.
2. If a car is sold, the new owner will be forced to get his own proof of ownership and justify the purchase.
3. This is done in sane countries...in Maryland USA, I think its biannually
4. It can also be used to enforce...Police can ask for Proof of Ownership and verify the documents with NIN/IDs
5. Even if you try to repaint or change a stolen vehicle, you will still need to have proof of sale and submit documents for Proof of Ownership

Yes, is it extra tax on the people that have vehicles...yes, but it will also provide JOBS JOBS JOBS and open up another way to generate revenues to pay those workers.

Like I told someone before...US/UK pay so many different taxes, and that is how they are also able to provide so many different types of jobs or contracts.

US Military spending alone is greater than almost all countries combined...You have Haliburton, GE, Boeing, Amazon, Google...all of them get Govt contracts. You have IRS and officers that collect and enforce taxation. You have Federal Police, different from State Police and Local Govt or County Police and you also have City Police...State Highway Police and so on. Govt pays for all of them and use the same taxes...FireHouse and workers in every few streets, Medicaid for elderly which opened job opportunities that people run to...Nursing, Doctor and so on. Even IT and CyberSecurity is due to Govt spending.

So if you want more jobs private or public, you must take and distribute. Rich people that have 10 cars will have to pay N10,000 per year...which is nothing to them.

I support this move for all of the reasons above. If you cannot pay N1000 per year, you should not be driving please and thank you.
