It seems people don't get the real target of this arrow; once this becomes implemented, you will have to pay annual road tax commensurate to a percentage of the worth of that vehicle. A lot of people will eventually have to drop their vehicles in the long run with the series of polices being implemented by renewed hopeπŸ₯ΊπŸ₯ΊπŸ₯Ί. Even though, we don't have the kind of infrastructure, welfare and transportation systems of the country they are trying to copyπŸ€”πŸ€”πŸ€”πŸ€”πŸ€”

There are so many reasons why this is good. It is like car registration

1. You cannot steal a vehicle and go for Proof of Ownership. If the car has been declared wanted, you are going to be in big trouble.
2. If a car is sold, the new owner will be forced to get his own proof of ownership and justify the purchase.
3. This is done in sane countries...in Maryland USA, I think its biannually
4. It can also be used to enforce...Police can ask for Proof of Ownership and verify the documents with NIN/IDs
5. Even if you try to repaint or change a stolen vehicle, you will still need to have proof of sale and submit documents for Proof of Ownership

Yes, is it extra tax on the people that have vehicles...yes, but it will also provide JOBS JOBS JOBS and open up another way to generate revenues to pay those workers.

Like I told someone before...US/UK pay so many different taxes, and that is how they are also able to provide so many different types of jobs or contracts.

US Military spending alone is greater than almost all countries combined...You have Haliburton, GE, Boeing, Amazon, Google...all of them get Govt contracts. You have IRS and officers that collect and enforce taxation. You have Federal Police, different from State Police and Local Govt or County Police and you also have City Police...State Highway Police and so on. Govt pays for all of them and use the same taxes...FireHouse and workers in every few streets, Medicaid for elderly which opened job opportunities that people run to...Nursing, Doctor and so on. Even IT and CyberSecurity is due to Govt spending.

So if you want more jobs private or public, you must take and distribute. Rich people that have 10 cars will have to pay N10,000 per year...which is nothing to them.

I support this move for all of the reasons above. If you cannot pay N1000 per year, you should not be driving please and thank you.

Is like u are not in Nigeria, Do you know that the computerized road worthiness certificate can be given to you in ur house without even them seeing ur car. He should tackle the loopholes in revenue generation and not creating more avenue for corrupt people to make more money.

There are some 11.8 million vehicles in Nigeria. With the tax, an annual income would be some ₦11.8 billion.

Wow.

I just hope more expensive vehicles are charged more, and less expensive vehicles, less.

Did you seek needed information before you posted this? In the UK which those politicians have made their real home, you register FREE as the owner and keeper of a vehicle when you buy it. But you cannot drive it on any road until you have got at least a third party Insurance on it and taxed it according to the measure of its carbon monoxide emissions - it is called road tax and done yearly: for maintenance of their roads, reduction of risks and hazards to human health, and keeping the earth green - fight against climate change is serious there as in many first world countries. Alternatively, declare it off road and keep it in your garage. Our roadworthiness has taken care of that, the only issue is we are not doing it right as they're doing. There, for example, hybrid cars pay the least road tax while electric vehicles don't pay a dime. Others pay according to their various levels of carbon emissions. So, continue to support your people in power but don't support arrant nonsense; let your mind see right things and correctly. Thank you

I agree that it might not serve all these purposes, but you are assuming Tinubu is Buhari. I am sure in Lagos, you just don't sit home and have documents provided to you. Lagos Govt has at least created legal and legit ways to get things done. That is not to say that Lagos is perfect, but my guess is...this would be ran by private companies like Tow Gates and some funds might be channeled back into the Govt. There will never be a perfect system, but as it is, the current car registration system ain't working and does not guide against everything I mentioned in my submission.

People that have jobs and money must pay more taxes...those taxes are then used to create jobs for more people to work and pay more taxes...that is how the Western Nation works. Our folks run to UK to work as Nurses...why? NHS because NHS taxes everyone and uses the money to pay Nurses, Doctors and so on...you also have IT jobs...most IT companies get Govt contracts. Its a symbiotic relationship.

Is it the children that Tinubu would have killed, with their parents, with arbitrary taxes and charges that will benefit from his murderous economic policies?

Mr. Tinubu is already climbing the tree beyond its leaftop (presido ti gun igi koja ewe). Mek him do am sofly sofly, and let we poor people breathe.

NHS does not tax but the government tax workers - personal income tax, national insurance. Businesses are taxed, inheritances are taxed, etc. Migrants are taxed by way of NHS surcharge - so that you enjoy health services free at the point of delivery. They pay it during visa application process before they enter the UK to join other tax payers to cough out dues as they make money .

That illegal tax should not even stand. Road-worthiness is an annual road tax already.

lol. that 1k yearly levy is even a starting point, don't be surprised that by next year, that 1k levy will increase to 5k levy, and you may have to settle touts before you can procure it, to avoid dehumanizing harassment of govt officials.
hope president BAT, will not have to embark on economic terrorism against Nigerians ?
the annoying thing is that, the political class always urge the masses to sacrifice, while avoiding any little sacrifice that can upset their luxurious lifestyles.
what a country, with strange leaders .
