The Presidency, on Wednesday, said federal universities in the country remain tuition-free.

Presidential spokesman, Dele Alake, in a statement, said some universities only recently announced “discretionary charges” for hostel accommodation, registration, laboratory, amongst others.

“They are not tuition fees,” he emphasised.

“For avoidance of doubts, federal universities in Nigeria remain tuition-free.”

Hmmm! Corruption go set in, I see VCs Deens HODs and lecturers cashout on this… competition to gain admission will only leads to corruption among the school authorities. It’s a good development if it can be properly implemented and managed…

honestly, tuition in federal universities is relatively affordable but there should be no increment at this trying times. I sincerely hope things will get better pretty soon

Don't be smart by half, Mr Spokesman. Everyone knows these institutions are still tuition-free but you've found a way of introducing a little tuition by padding up fees.
Within 60 days in office, your administration has removed subsidies on fuel, education, and health, after deregulating the naira. You've also prioritized the comfort of those in the various arms of government over people's interests.

We Nigerians are Evil people.

Nigerians pay Olosho/Hookup Babe 25 to 50k per night ( Not High Class Olsoho) and we want to pay 16k for a full year Tuition. University Education for that matter.

We should let this sink into our brains, Tertiary Education is not for all.

The most annoying thing is that most of us that enjoyed almost free Tertiary Education still wake up to run down the country everyday.

We say Nigeria has done nothing for us. Nonsense!

The idea of tuition was reversed.
Ok.

But proper funding of those universities should be looked into.
