Senate Rejects Motion To Release Nnamdi Kanu by QuotaSystem: 8:39pm On Jul 26, 2023
The Senate has rejected a motion to release from detention, the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.

The motion which was moved by Senator Osita Izunaso (Imo West) sought to address the constant sit-at-home order enforced by unknown gunmen in the South-East.

The lawmaker, in the motion co-sponsored by other lawmakers from the South-East, noted that the senators were aware that thousands of innocent lives had been lost since the action started, and properties worth over a trillion had been destroyed resulting in investors leaving the region.

He said, “The sit-at-home civil disobedience actions in the South-East have led to the disruption/destruction of economic activities and immeasurable financial losses for businesses, workers, and the local economy. Because, when people are forced to stay at home and businesses remain closed, productivity declines and income is reduced, affecting livelihoods and economic growth.

“The “sit-at-home” protests disrupt the education of students, leading to missed classes and delays in academic progress. And such prolonged disruptions have long-term effects on students’ learning outcomes and educational development; Disturbed that disruption of essential public services, such as healthcare, transportation, and waste disposal, continues to have a severe impact during “sit-at-home” protests which adversely affect the well-being and safety of the general population living in the South-East.”

IPOB had in August 2021 declared a sit-at-home order every Monday across the South-East to protest the continued detention of Kanu. The separatist group eventually suspended the order.

However, the leader of a faction of IPOB, Simon Ekpa, has continued to declare sit-at-home orders in the region despite the exercise being suspended by the IPOB faction led by Kanu.

If the reason why he should be released is to stop the sit at home, then he shouldn't be released.

The innocent blood of thousands of civilians and security agents lost to the murderous, treasonous and hateful atrocities of Lamidi Kanu since 2015 are crying and must get true justice.

He ain’t going nowhere.

His victims deserve justice, the victims of his violent rhetorics deserve justice. Lagos state and victims of the coordinated arson he instructed his followers to go unleash on Lagos deserve justice.

The life and human rights of his victims matter too and should not be sacrificed on politics and technicalities. They are citizens of this great nation that the President swore to protect and defend. The President must let the court give justice to his victims. It is their right to get justice as freeborn citizens of this great nation.

No. The treason case that preceded his jumping bail is yet to be decided. No court has acquitted and discharged him of those crimes brought against him by the Federal Government. That's why he is not yet free.

Everyone will agree for him to go home as a free man the moment he is declared innocent of all those crimes including his role in the burning down of Lagos. Let the court breathe.

Re: Senate Rejects Motion To Release Nnamdi Kanu by Cyberterror: 9:04pm On Jul 26, 2023
Releasing terrorist Nnamdi Kanu will only worsen the security challenges in the south east and give him heroic status. That would be pissing on the graves of ambushed and killed Nigerian police officers and soldiers as well as civilians like Ahmed Gulak killed in Imo, the husband of the late Nafdac DG Dora, the wife and four kids of the Hausa family slaughtered in Anambara, traditional rulers killed in Imo, the Enugu east senatorial candidate in Enugu state and so many more, by the terrorist IPOB which Kanu supervises. His terrorist exploits even reached yoruba land of Lagos state so now his matter has left the hands of Igbos to decide.

Thank God the coup in NIGER was Successful.....

Nigeria and Niger have almost everything in common. Therefore reincarnation of Modern Military Government (MMG) in Nigeria, would be a very welcomed development.

The court of appeal has squashed all charges against Kanu and went further to rule that no court in Nigeria has jurisdiction to try Kanu. So Kanu's trual is already dead

The FG is only time wasting at the Supreme court

You are still lying. His case before Justice Nyako before he jumped bail is still on. If you keep lying, you are just deceiving yourself and the truth is not in you. All his alleged victims may not know Senators, Governors, online mob etc but they deserve justice. They will get justice from the court through the FG prosecution of him. If he is discharged and acquitted of those charges then he will be free. Right now, he has not been cleared of those criminal charges.
