Kogi Governor, Yahaya Bello reportedly lobbied for ministerial slot in the cabinet of President Bola Tinubu, GWG.ng reliably gathered.

A credible source told our reporter the Governor had approached the previous Acting Chairman of All Progressive Congress (APC), Abubakar Kyari through the backdoor to be named among Tinubu's cabinet pending when he leaves governorship seat in 2024.

"He (Yahaya Bello) lobbied to be Minister of Defence but his proposal was however turned down by the Presidency," the source disclosed.

The source also faulted claims that Governor Bello recommended late Abubakar Audu's son, Shuaibu Abubakar Audu as one of Tinubu's ministerial nominees.

"Bello was not the one that recommended Audu's son. It was just a publicity stunt to gain sympathy votes from the Igalas knowing fully well they are determined to unseat APC in Kogi following the outcome of the party's primary," the source further disclosed.

Recall the late Audu's son had recently paid a thank-you visit to the Kogi governor after his successful screening by the 10th Senate.

His nomination was however faulted by some stakeholders of the party in the State arguing that Shuaibu’s nomination was not in the best interest of supporters of the APC in the Kogi east Senatorial zone where he hails from.
