There have been several discussions on this. Some believe Jezebel was a witch while others feel Elijah as just too tired to confront her.

I feel Elijah was actually afraid. When God asked him why he was "running", he said he was the only prophet left and others had been killed. Maybe he felt God might not save him based on past prophets that Jezebel must have killled.

Other prophets (of God) had already been killed, by her and her king husband so how is he different from them?

If God had appointed him to die, (like parable explained) so it is, but naturally, he would run and has to run first.

There is no truth to the claim that Jezebel was a witch and she was certainly not a prostitute.
