For perspective .

65- 85L tank is about 3500 to ₦5000.

₦5000 to cover 200km is still a good deal if you compare it to diesel or petrol.

Average for Highway Driving on petrol is 10:1km/L which would cost an average of 12,200 to cover 200km

I have not had the time to hit the highway to run tests yet .

Will stick with pms for long. Once there is demand..price go rise up.then by then would be too late to reverse. If it ain't direct from factory,r.i.p in advance.

100% agreed with the bolded

This is the type of Angrigowt I like.. This is what happens when you obey your psychiatric doctors and take your medications daily not skipping it , but taking it daily with water and not with dog pee ...

Ur eyes will be clearer and your thinking will be balance. And appropriate to the members of the public that are listening to ur advice.....

I have never for once will encourage such conversions to CNG... It is a disaster waiting to happen and R.I.P in advance especially if it is not factory fitted... I was never a fan of anything that is not factory fitted

2nd highway test Hyundai I10

GAZZUZZ:

What are the advantages of using CNG in automotive industry.

1. It is cheaper to run (an average of ₦60per  KM on petrol vs ₦21 per km on CNG. ) Real world data.

2. It is cleaner and eco friendly and if you care about green house gasses and the ozone layer CNG is gives off the least pollution in fossil fuels.
3.  It is maintenance friendly . Engines running on CNG have less carbon deposits on parts of the engine that come in contact with combustion, engine oil stays cleaner, engine runs quieter .

However there are downsides to using CNG .

1. Currently Limited Availability:  For now there are less than 100 active CNG stations for  over 220million  Nigerians. The govt is working on having CNG stations in all the nooks and crannies of the country, so let's keep hope alive .

2. Reduced Performance: CNG powered vehicles have reduced performance compared to petrol-powered vehicles. Not as bad as it seems though.

3. Higher installation costs: The initial costs are currently high, but again I hear there is a lot of government intervention in bringing in kits at subsidised rates, so again let's keep hope alive.

4. Reduced boot space : This is self explanatory, the boot space will be shared with the CNG cylinder. Something has to give for running a vehicle on lower costs

5. Limited range. Now that's a bummer. A vehicle equipped with a 2.0 to 2.4 cubic capacity engine running on a 65-85L CNG tank will cover about 200km on a full tank. Long distance trips will need breaks to fill up unlike petrol powered vehicles that can cover an average of 600km on a full tank.

This thread is educating and interesting. From indications it seems at the moment CNG vehicles will be most suitable for use when running around within the city/Town and not for long distance travel.

Just educating the general public about how CNG works.

Expect some drag at low rpm .

I read his response to you and it was clear.

It was also clear after reading this that you didn't understand anything he wrote up there.

Sad.

Perhaps you should read it again but slower this time

Jangbajantis:

Are you talking about speed or consumption? If it's speed, it's understandable and people would grab it. Who speed help? But if it's consumption (as in, which one burns faster) then fuel although costlier will still be preferred.
