what these people dont consider is that the clause ...and Abuja, is the only reason that Abuja people have votes at all. If it merely stated 36 states, they would not have gotten any vote. now they are thinking that Abuja voters should have veto power. A simple majority could have just won the election. Why was there even need for 25% in 24 states and FCT?

It's all about spread and jurisdiction.

It may not make all the sense but it does make some sense that the president who will be the administrator of Abuja should get at least 25% of the support of the people. That is not difficult to ask. And this is just for the first ballot. Because where there is a second ballot, neither 25% in 24 states nor 25% in FCT will be required but a simple majority.
