What's the need of having a governor when the FCT minister can play same role

The normal recognized states across Nigeria, how developed are they?

It means residence of Abuja will begin to elect their own governors like other states. We now have 37 states according to pro Tinubu presidential tribunal.

Yes, i am a lawyer licensed to practice in Nigeria.

I wont be saying all these if i were a layman.

I have explained the reason for my conclusion in the write up. Calm down and read it.

Dont wound yourself because of partisanship.

I am a yoruba like you and i dont have anything against Asiwaju.

I am only giving a lecture about the effects of a Supreme Court constitutional precedent.

I am a Nigerian and i bear my allegiance to the constitution, not any fellow tribe man.

Unless we dont want to use that constitution again.
oga shutup your smelling lies..

Show us in the constitution where it is stated that Abuja voters are superior to others...

Concerning if Abuja is a state , read section 299 of the constitution to clear your ignorance

I don't really think there's a need for having a governor.

A simple majority could have just won the election. Why was there even need for 25% in 24 states and FCT?

It's all about spread and jurisdiction.

It may not make all the sense but it does make some sense that the president who will be the administrator of Abuja should get at least 25% of the support of the people. That is not difficult to ask. And this is just for the first ballot. Because where there is a second ballot, neither 25% in 24 states nor 25% in FCT will be required but a simple majority.

No. You are just deluding yourself. The president is the administrator of Nigeria not just Abuja. Abuja voters are not special.

Why should I when I can read with my nose. Mtcheew.

Add fire to quench whatever that might be burning.

What exactly is the need of Abuja being a state? Is that going to change the lives of the citizens?

The normal Nigeria states, how developed are they?

Throw away emotions when replying this

You speak like a fool this man. Leave it for the abuja guys to decide - that should be your normal reasoning. But it seems stipend has called you to be foolish each time

Thats double standard. Since there's no special votes, citizens or states, then every citizen should be allowed to cast his or her votes in a Governorship election.

Why should some citizens be prevented from voting in a Governor like other citizens of Nigeria? What's so special about Abuja that it cannot have a Governor?

No sir you are wrong. The governors administer the states of the federation, while the president administer the FCT.

The governors don't even report to the president. They are independent to a very large extent.

The difference is just that the powers of the governors are limited to their states while that of the president is accross the country. That's why we have the exclusive list. A list of powers reserved for the president eg security arms, fiscal policies, foreign trade, etc.

Nigerians really need to understand how their government work.

The president is the administrator general of Nigeria! He has the primary responsibility to administer Nigeria.

If that's the case then there is no need for governors because you can't have two administrators.
You are wrong.

A state needs 3 senators and many more reps.
A state needs a governor who must have immunity. FCT minister does not have immunity.
A state needs a state assembly.

Abuja is being cheated.

The extra Abuja state will mean that the Northcentral will have 7 states

I dont think distance has anything to do with this issue. And we both know Washington DC is located inside Washington State. Washington is one and not two, the size notwithstanding.

Likewise, FCT can have a minister while a Governor has and exercises executive powers donated by the constitution and the mandate of the electorates. This is not a difficult issue at all. It is just a constitutional consequence which will flow from the Supreme Court's judgment.

Illiteracy is a big problem in this country @seun maybe we should conduct IQ tests before users are allowed to make posts on NL

Imagine one conflating Washington DC into Washington state and arguing same? Yet claiming to be learned.
